Perlowin is behind the International Holistic Health Cannabis Convention Halloween Harmony & Harvest Festival, planned for Oct. 29-31 in the Pontiac Silverdome.

 

He also spent nine years in a federal prison after being arrested in 1983 for smuggling marijuana. Perlowin had been dubbed the “The King of Pot” by the media, and was said to be one of the largest smugglers of marijuana on the West Coast.

 

Today, he operates Medical Marijuana. The company is publicly traded, based in California and provides tools to manage medical marijuana businesses in full compliance of laws and regulations regarding cannabis.

 

Word about the event leaked early when fliers were circulated prior to local officials being contacted.

 

Perlowin said his attorney, Matthew Abel, would be meeting with city officials to clear up any misinformation they have about the event.

 

A meeting is scheduled for next week with Police Chief Val Gross, Abel said.

 

Pontiac Mayor Leon Jukowski said early Thursday he was going to have City Attorney Mark Hotz draft a cease-and-desist letter to Medical Marijuana and the Silverdome’s owners.

Well, for openers, I'd say, "The Mass Media Sources" definetly got this part right:

Yup, they sure got that right: "dubbed ... by the media"

 

After all ... "Dubbing" IS what the mass media does do "BEST".

 

Sad to say as it is to see, it certainly appears, the only real "Truth" in Media - is what we find between the lines.

I read the full article as well as the comments. I am not surprised at the tone of the article---just look at some of the comments !!! Wow !!!! There is a lot of hatred out there. We have to do a lot of educating....That individuals who take MMJ for pain management usually reduce their narcotic pain meds by 90% !!!! That the majority of individuals using MMJ significantly reduce their alcoholic intake !!! And yet in the Comments to the article the term "Killer Weed" is repeatedly employed !!! We always need to remind ourselves that not everyone is playing with a full deck !!!

Why should this community have to go quietly about the business of merely having a simple caregiver/patient limited supply line when we can run right over the voters, municipalities, and state by opening dispensaries on every corner and holding public events with medication tents. The more "in your face" we get about this the sooner they will realize the folly of their prohibitionist attitudes. Just like the argument that dispensaries are not addressed in the law and are therefor a defacto legality, nothing in the law defines who may be provided the services delivered. Card? Why would you even need one with the AD? Seems the dispensary market is wide open. Procure anywhere, provide to anyone. Pretty much legalizes cannabis and a legal distribution system. Those that disagree can EAT IT! It is IMPOSSIBLE to overturn this law either by legislation or voter initiative. We have absolutely nothing to fear!!!!!

I am ready to rouse some rabble. We should take a page from the tea partiers and exercise a little civil disobedience. Want to hold a city council meeting about a moratorium or some other civil liberty infraction, plan on hundreds of patients showing up - WE DON'T SIT DOWN AND WE DON'T SHUT UP.
