Need Strain Advice For Brain Cancer Patient

Ladybug

Recommended Posts

I have a new patient with Brain Cancer and could use some input on the strains that can help. She gets very bad headaches and nausea after her chemo treatment. Also her husband says that some mornings she just can't get moving and would rather stay in bed all day.

If anyone has some input on what strains would work I would love to hear from you.

I have seen a few acticles on Medical Marijuana helping to shrink brain tumors but they never say what strains work and so it leaves me in the dark, if anyone has info on this or has a link to some info please let me know. The doctors say she she isn't expected to last even till Christmas so time is not on her side and I don't want to waste her time trying strains that do nothing for her. Thanks in advance for any help this community can give us.

It is vitally important that you use a strain that has a very clear "creeper" effect.

That would be a strain that takes longer to get a smoker high. These strains can take as long as 45 minutes to take effect.

Next the duration of the high (when smoked or vaped) is much longer. Four to 6 hours.

The compound that is responsible for this effect is called CBD.

Studies have shown that THC and CBD combined produce a much stronger anti cancer effect that either one of them by themselves.

The most recent report that I read has the anti cancer effects of THC as small. And increasing the dosage doesn't increase the anti cancer effect.

The same is true with CBD. Increasing the dosage of CBD does not increase the anti cancer effect.

When the two are combined, the effect is much stronger. And increasing the dosage increases this anti cancer effect.

When working with the Simpson procedure, the dosages are very large. More than just THC is needed for the process to work.

Thanks for that info. I do have a strain just 4 weeks from harvest that is suppose to be a creeper with a long lasting effect, don't have any info on thc or cbd levels but I hope it will help. Do you have any thoughts on which method would be more beneficial, smoking it or use it in medibles?

WOW. I'm sorry. I thought you were aware of the Rick Simpson procedure.

That procedure requires the patient to consume, by eating, the essential oils of one pound of high quality marijuana within sixty days.

To get there the patient needs to have the dosage ramped up. Starting with small amounts, several times per day, then slowly increasing the dosage until the patient is eating about 1200 mg of cannabinoids per day.

For reference, one joint may contain 10-25 mg of ccannabinoids.

More information on youtube. This is a seven part movie. Here is part one:

please use care when dealing with people that are already in a weaken state, start slow to see what their tolerance levels are,i've seen patients pass out at the table,or have to lay down for an hour or two after taking meds because they were not used to the effects...after all we're trying to help them feel better not put them under the table..peace all and good luck to your patient....zzb

Thanks for that.

That would be the reason for the ramping up. Yes. Never exceed the comfort of the patient. Take advantage of tolerance by keeping a regular flow into the patient. That allows for the larger dosages required for the effect.

NICE peanutbutter and thanks everyone for the help. I am sure ladybug can figure it out now. My wife says I am obsessed with the whole marijuana thing but I am loving the beauty of it,,I can't find anything wrong and nothing but good when used the right way.It makes people feel better with little to NO side effects. It cures things that nothing else can cure with out much damage if at all. Most important it makes lives better that may have not been the best they can be.Some people say to me that it just seems like I can breath better after smoking but that does not make sense cause breathing is something you have to do and if it sucks you know. If something that makes a problem of yours feel better isn't that a medicine? If smoking marijuana makes me FEEL like I breath better then that is medicine in my books.

I can't thank everyone enough for all the info you have given me on this. I have been up all night watching these videos and reading up on this. Is there any Compassion Clubs currently carrying the Simpson Oil as I think the sooner she gets this the better her chances will be and I am 4 weeks from harvest and then add in drying time so I'm at least 5-6 weeks away from being able to supply her with what she needs now.

AGAIN MANY MANY THANKS

  • 4 years later...

The most recent strains for the medical marijuana community coming out of Amsterdam are shooting

for a 1 : 1 ratio of THC and CBD which according to the best anectdotal and medical info available

is presently the way to go for this type of cancer

there are a few seed banks supplying these strains

example : CBD crew has teamed up with Dutch Passion and Barneys Farm Seeds to name but a few companies

who now sell strains that produce low THC ( approx 4 - 7 % )  and high CBD ( approx 4 - 7 % )

also be very careful that you harvest at the right time to get the most potent resin from the plant

as well as decarboxylating at the optimum temperature ( 240F )

and we're talking about ingesting the oil ....not smoking

so check out proper dosage if and when you can get your hands on a proper extract

if I were to buy such an extract i would be looking for someone who has grown ...or who can grow for me.......

an extract of CBD Kush from Barneys.....its graphing out at 7% THC and 7% CBD......cant go wrong with those numbers :)

How do you decarb the CBD without degrading the THC to CBN?  It takes 2x as long to decarb CBD from what I have read.  At that point you would be turning a lot of THC to CBN if you are using heat.
