Sounds like you've Got a deviant idea of what you need to get going. I would definitely recommend getting a ph/ppm meter, it will answer alot of questions that would otherwise leave you scratching your head. Never used canna nutes however a good starting point would be the back of the bottle. As for how frequent you water that will be something that you'll have to figure out along the way. I'm able to tell by the weight of the pot, comparing it to the weight when it's completely dry. I like to run alot of micro beneficials in my coco with a heavy organic regamin. Normally I run a hydro setup but my mother plants are always in coco. Feel free to ask any questions I'll help as best I can.

I haven't used Canna nutes, instead I've been using General Hydroponics 3 part. Also using #3 Smart Pots.

I mix up nutrients pretty lightly, mostly following the coco variations of the 'lucas formula' -- about 6ml Micro, 9 ml Bloom, add a bit of cal-mag or epsom salts if needed. OK, that may not translate to Canna nutes, but I end up with a mix around 900 to 1000 ppm, starting with ~100ppm well water, PH'd down to 5.6 or so. Since it's a light mix I almost always feed the same mix, rarely using plain water until final flushing.

Regardless of the coco brand or how it's advertised, I always pre-treat my coco by rinsing it well, and soaking it thoroughly with a nute mix with plenty of cal-mag in it.

I water once every 1-2 days, by hand, until the coco is saturated but not creating too much run-off. For the 5 foot tall plants I have in the middle of flower now, that translates to almost a gallon a day per plant. Quite a bit less at the beginning and end of flower.

Most important tips that make coco easier? For me it's been PH control and the addition of cal-mag or epsom salts when needed.

In coco flowering a plant at 12in in a 3 gallon pot is too big...you will be way over pot size. Coco, unlike soil, thrives best when the roots have completely filled the pot. Once you see roots popping out the bottom of the pot, you never want to let the pot completely dry out...You want to feed every watering w/atleast 10-20% run off or you will run into defiencies and problems. I flower bushes in 1gallon smart pots of coco w/great results...I also have had slightly better results w/dripper system vs hand watering. PH should be ran between 5.8 to 6.2. In veg, I run 5.8-5.9, in flower I run 5.9-6.0. Hope this helps...I wish you luck w/your coco grow :thumbsu:.

Hey Ive run DWC, soil and Canna Coco. Out of the three Coco was the easiest. All you have to do John is do EXACTLY what Canna says to do on the bottles. You dont need a feeding schedule just feed every watering for mature plants. If you have filtered water (as i pray you do) PH adjusters aren't really necessary either. If you follow what they say to do you should never run into deficiencies or lockout. Keep that Coco packed tightly in your 3 gallon, loose Coco is a huge burden on roots.

Also I believe you will be extremely happy with your results as Canna is a top of the line nutrient company that will increase your resin production. No added outside bunny muffin from other companies is necessary.

Ms. Vaped, what sort of schedule do you run with those drippers in coco? I've been thinking of trying either a fixed time schedule with automated drippers or moisture-sensing blumat drippers. I'm aiming for very low runoff drain-to-waste.

I like to feel my pots before the drippers start, so I plug the pumps in manually daily, usually right when the lights come on. With coco you really want a good amount of run off...Don't worry about nutrient cost because it will pay for itself come harvest time. Without run you will start to see defiencies as certain elements will accumulate, locking out others.

Hello CoCo growers. I have been growing in canna coco for a few cycles now...coming from soil. I do use canna coco NEVER RINSED. Although if you are going to use any coco other than canna, I would highly recommend rinsing it. If it were not for canna coco I would not be using coco because if I had to rinse it and expand it and all that jazz I would never use it....growing is a labor of love...but I don't love labor like that. I use Advanced Nutrients right now but love using Botanicare nutrients. I never run to waste, never have any problems with deficiencies. I top my plants off with fresh water every third feeding, hand fed. If you want to learn from a pro you should check out sublbc on youtube! He is by far one of if not the best coco grower out there on youtube....he is super detailed and informative...over 600 vids! Or go to icmag.com and go to the growers forum and choose the coco forum...tons of info on coco handwatered, blumats, drip to waste, non drip to waste and everything else under the sun.
