Any Pain Doctors Cannabis Friendly?

the reason they don't want you on the pot while taking opiates is b/c the pot magnifies the effects of the opiates like two fold and b/c if your using drugs then you aren't taking the pain med thing seriously and it shows that your just there to use them as a dispensary and to get hi and get F'd up ..tbh ive done all of this..so I know all of this for a fact...it's one HELL of a lot easier to quit pot than it is to quit opiates..just cut the pot out until you find a doctor who doesn't care....the way ive noticed it usually works is..while getting high on opiates from pain docs <which ive done> they absolutely do not want u to be on anything that is illegal b/c pain meds are suuuuuper close to being considered "illegal" <less u got cancer XD::><which if u did isn't a laughing matter> but if you are on suboxone they don't care if you are getting high b/c you've already done ALOT worse..so my best suggestion is to just cut the pot..i mean think about it what would you rather quit? your oxys,Roxy's or fentanyl patches OR pot?? the worse your GF would have to deal with is light withdrawl symptoms for MAYBE a week or half a week til her body adjusted to being off of pot..honestly it just blowing up her addiction to the pain meds and will just be worse for her in the long run...I know pot is fun, but doing pain med and pot together..i mean its no surprised why the doctors don't want her on it..just ask her whats more important..pot or oxys lol im sure itll be an easy answer...but again if its subs..i know plenty of sub doctors who are cannabis friendly here in grand rapids..goodluck hope you've solved this issue by now...

my PCP is also cool with my mm use as well but i also took in all the research to back me up and just gave it to him and told him i didnt want to talk with him about it until he read the research i brought him. He also knows that i hate taking pain meds or any pills and he also knew that at the time i brang this info in that i was taking over 2,000 mils of acetaminophen and about 1,000 of ibuprofen on top of the pain meds that he was giving me and i don't take any of the extra's that i use to take and have cut way back on the pain meds so he now signs all my rec's and dont even question my renewals. i don't even have to go in and see him just drop off the paper work because i see him threw-out the year. the only thing he asks is that i not spread his name around because he does'nt want to be known as a pop doc but i guess i can live with that good luck in finding some to help your wife they are out there keep looking

Thats Phaqed up man!  You shouldnt even have posted!  Do you feel good now that you bragged about some one else's issues?

Dont waiste time patting your self on the back, give up the dr. name or take your post off,  Some people are just idiot's

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

OP Im sorry about your issues, we all have had to find other dr.'s, because of our choice in a better med, I have a friendly pain specialist in bay city or saginaw, they are both far for you, but if you dont need all kinds of shots or in person appt's they will do you right, I only go 4 times a  yr, they give me 3 months worth of rx's...my  main pain pill cant have refills, so they give me 3 rx's and they are all dated the same day but have a fill date on them, I give them all to the pharmacy and I go get my narcotic once a month for 3 months, than I go back to dr.

I know bay city may be a far drive, and to hard for your wife, Im sorry for that, If I was still in the detroit area I would have a dr. for you whether the dr. told me to keep quite or not!

Let me know and I will give you contact info to my real st.mary's pain specialist's, They have 2 offices, I just go to which ever they want me to, I live in roscomon county so I make a good 3/4 day of it, Maybe with the right vehicle and meds, rest area's you could make a day out of it, at least you wont have to worry any longer about getting the meds she requires to live almost pain free!

I feel for you and yours!

Peace

Jim

What is it hat y

I am considering starting a practice in N. Michigan to take people that have been kicked out by their doctors for getting a MMJ card. Basically a 420 Friendly Pain Clinic. There are two conditions- I am not going to deal with insurance, so payment is due at the time of service (MRI's and other medical procedures that are ordered outside the clinic can be handled by insurance). The other condition is that I really hate chronic narcotic therapy, so there will be an immediate wean to no narcotics over 3-6 months (mmj and suboxone therapy will be available). Pain contracts (which will allow MMJ with a legal card or paperwork from a records requiring clinic), weaning schedules, etc will be required, other services may be available which may or may not accept insurance as well.

The problem I have is that too many doctors are cutting folks with legitimate pain off all medications cold turkey when they get a card. This is just wrong in my book, but I cannot control what they do. My purpose is NOT to be the dentist handing out suckers and treating the resulting cavities, but to give folks an option to wean off narcotics in a reasonable manner. I don't think people should be forced into withdrawal simply because they made a choice with their healthcare.

The basic way it will work is that you will meet with the office staff, fill out paperwork and records requests, and meet with me when everything is available for my review. I'll be in the office once a week or so and see people by appointment (no walk ins- your chart must be ready before I see you). I'll work out a treatment program with you, we'll discuss the pain contract and weaning schedule. We will also discuss any diagnostics I feel are necessary, and offer options such as suboxone if appropriate. You may be referred to specialists or for additional studies.

What are the thoughts out there? I can't really discuss pricing, it wont be free or really cheap, but it won't be on the level of what you have to pay for 'insurance' taking practices, if one can be found once you get a card. Would also be good documentation for renewals and other 'bona fide' doctor patient relationship issues.

Excellent point. Perhaps the correct approach in a situation like that would be to say,"Dr, I've noticed that I can take fewer pain meds or take them less frequently when using cannabis ".

Although when I was in the hospital I had to argue to get them to stop giving me narcotics and I had no access to cannabis at all. They seem to love giving you a monkey to feed.

dont worry a week and a half you can kick that dirty pot usage down the drain, and get right into the hard narcotics. from a true anti mj person, one post and never to return, .  narcotics are sooooo much better for you...

Help me im gonna go rob and steal  for my marijuana fix, and get this monkey off my back!!!

It really is getting bad, and they are messing with availability of schedule 2 opiods, which is hurting a lot of people. It is the worst of all scenarios from a medical policy perspective.

They are not only quiting you for being an mm pt!  They are cutting people off of their pain killers also!

Does the right hand know what the left hand is doing?

WTF

FTW,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lol

Whether combining MMJ and opioids is capable of getting a user more high is irrelevant with respect to safety, because the overdose potential significantly drops when combined (by 25%-33%). Someone trying to get high will take enough of whatever they are on until they reach their recreational point. In addition, doctors who prescribe pain meds to eliminate 100% of the pain 24/7 are not treating properly (my doctor took my pain down from 8-9/10 to 3-5/10 and left it there); the vast majority of cases will not get high from pain meds if they are used properly to treat serious pain over time. So either (A) you’re a drug addict using opioids to get high and using marijuana may save you from an overdose death or (B) you likely still have additional pain and/or want to cut down on the pills due to side-effects/intolerance/ineffectiveness.

Lower Opioid Overdose Death Rates Associated with State Medical Marijuana Laws
http://media.jamanetwork.com/news-item/lower-opioid-overdose-death-rates-associated-with-state-medical-marijuana-laws/

“The years after implementation of medical marijuana laws also were associated with lower overdose death rates that generally got stronger over time: year 1 (-19.9 percent), year 2 (-25.2 percent), year 3 (-23.6 percent), year 4 (-20.2 percent), year 5 (-33.7 percent) and year 6 (-33.3 percent).

The MMMA also prohibits any penalties against you simply for having a card or using MMJ, including being kicked from your pain clinic or being discriminated against. So you always have the option to argue for your rights or sue; I just tell the ‘conventional’ doctors who are open to facts.

Thanks, just a currently disabled scientist who became a victim like many of the members on this site. I’ve been visiting since I had to fight three bogus misdemeanors last year and created my account some time afterwards. Appreciate the feedback though, only wish I could do more to help with all the crazy s*** going on even outside of the MMMA.
