“I thought I was legal,” Laughry, 42, told Branch County Circuit Court Judge Bill O’Grady.
Laughry will serve six months in jail and then be on probation for two years for manufacturing the drug at his Behnke Road home.
“You may not apply for the medical marijuana card while on probation,” Judge O’Grady told him. “You must be drug-free” and will be drug tested.

perfect reason to have the community involved, or at least informed, BEFORE sentencingBecause he was growing before he received card or because it is banned in his city?

Coldwater, Mich. — A friend told Richard Laughry he could grow marijuana because he had filed for a Michigan Medical Marijuana (MMMA) card and the state cashed his money order.
“You must be drug-free” and will be drug tested.

along that lines then if you can't smoke meds when you are sick and on probation then you shouldn't be able to take any meds what so ever if you limit one medicene then you have to limit all medicenes. You can't pick and choose. It is either all or nothing. And that also goes for any place where you get your medicene. If they tell us where we have to zone our dispenseries then that same laws applys to drug stores pharmcies, gas stations walmart any place that sells medicene weither it is asprine marijuana coidene, what ever they are dicrimagating against our medicene. if they are going to regulate our medicene then they have to regulate their medicene. as well

The wife beater two blocks over last year got thirty days after beating his wife so badly he broke her nose, jaw, and fractured both her eye sockets.

We do need the actual facts. Had he received his rec? If so when? Before or after arrest. Thanks, Bb
Sounds like he had a copy of his canceled check at the time of the arrest.
It is possible that he was already on probation when he applied for the card.
Sounds like ..
