Simpson Oil Vs Bho/hho

Recommended Posts

I have a question for all the oil experts here (pb in particular).

I'm looking at getting a Tamisium Butane Extractor. I'm aware that I'd need the good butane (99.9%) to make it clean and safe. I understand that Hexane can also be used in the extractor, which is likely cleaner and purer.

Anyway, I notice that in Run From The Cure, the oil is black. But Butane/Hexane Honey Oil are not (hence the name).

The question is - What are the differences between the two? I know the honey oil is not, but is simpson oil decarboxylyzed? If so, and you wanted to use honey oil orally like simpson oil, I would assume it needs to be decarboxylyzed. What is the best way to do that?

I may be way off here in my assumptions, that's why I'm asking for help. :)

Thanks all for all that you do and all your help!!

I have made the oil using both methods alcohol and butene I will agree that oil from butene appears to be cleaner and is more pleasant to smoke and little easier on the lungs than oil extracted from alcohol. Oil extracted from alcohol is is not as flavorful and harder on the lungs than butene but for ingesting I believe they would both have a equal effect all I have to go on is results that we have had with 10 plus patients that we have assisted with the Run from the Cure method

Simpson oil has more in it. If the 'more' part is what you need to help what ails you then you have a better drug. It depends on the patient. Some patients may need 'less' in their drug and like the BHO. Every patient would have to decide for themselves what works better for them.

There are ways to smoke the Simpson oil, with a vape type set up, to make it less harsh on the lungs.

That's what I thought but I wasn't certain.

More of what though? Alcohol dissolves both polar and non polar substances, and from what I understand/read cannabinoids are exclusively non polar, so the alcohol is dissolving something other than cannabinoinds.

BHO is pure tricolmbes (thc). Simpson's has ALL the cannabinoids.

I don't think that's right. As far as I know ALL cannabinoids are present in trichomes. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Cannabis plants have a large amount of THCA, it has an added carbon on it and is unusable in humans as such. Over time the extra carbon leaves, and this happens at room temperature over a long period, or really quickly when burned.

The Rick Simpson method uses heat to remove the alcohol, which in turn also releases the extra carbon in a process called decarboxylization. Or something like that. Anyway however it is spelled it removes the extra carbon. That means RSO is ingestable at full strength in any form, from eating it, sopositories, smoking it, whatever. It also as above has different/more cannabinoids than BHO.

The RSO I make so super sweet when vaped, almost like a 7up or sprite taste, and it is VERY strong. I take 1 small dose, 1/2 the size of a small grain rice, and I feel it, almost to the point of getting the spins (I am a lightweight). Best part is I have chonic pain in my foot, and that pain goes away for sometimes 2 days with out taking any more! That's some of the extra cannabinoids taking effect as anti-inflamatory which BHO doesn't do for me. Helps out short term, but not long term.

So if you're looking for oil to smoke/vape, and aren't concerned with the other cannabinnoids which have tons of positive effects, BHO is fine.

Just PLEASE do it outside. I have watched too many videos of people doing it inside, and have read too many stories of houses blowing up. Google it, it just happened like 6 months ago up in canada somewhere I think.

What I like about RSO is I can put it in a gel cap, carry it with me in a pill bottle, and pop one whenever I want to. Makes travel (inside michigan) very easy, and don't have to worry about people calling the casino cops when I go up to turtle creek. Just pop a pill right there on the casino floor no different than a tylenol. In fact sometimes I put a tylenol or other pill inside the RSO gel cap to weight it down and make it easier to swallow.

BHO you can't do that with, it still needs the heat to drop the extra carbon. I think I heard somewhere of someone cooking their source material for BHO at 200 degrees for like 75 minutes or something to decarb it first, however since I started with Simpson oil I haven't looked back.

RSO does pull some chlorophyl, which is why the dark color. BHO pulls mostly from outside the leaf from what I understand, which is higher in THC, lower in other cannabinoids. I do think it has them all, just different concentrations.

As in my above post, RSO is ready to go in any way shape or form, BHO needs to be smoked, or otherwise cooked to activate the THC through decarboxylation.

We really are just kicking a can around the block. Plants have different things in them. Extracts methods extract different things. I use an isomerizer and it does something different than a wash. I saw results from an alcohol extraction that showed it had 99% THC. Was it a quick wash or an ISO extraction? You will have to try everything and see what works for you. In general, BHO has more THC and less cannabinoids than an alcohol extraction. In general, an iso extraction has more cannabinoids than a quick wash. There are so many variables that you only can make a general prediction after looking at the whole process, from the starting supplies to the method of extraction. If it's not in the plant you can't extract it.

on another note. I always put my BHO in a double boiler and heat till it gets creamy and melts together. comes out as earwax. much easier to handle. not sticky. it takes the last bit of butane taste out and should be enough to de-carb the thc. the rush is intense when smoked/vaped, not for a lightweight
