I have told all 4 of my doctors (2 specialists and 2 GP's). None would recommend MM for me. One specialist did federally financed research, one specialist said no way, no how (I did not go back to him) and both my GP's begged off saying: "We are not treating you for that condition...see the specialist." Nobody dropped me as a patient and my specialist scheduled an appointment for me 3 months early so he could talk to me about my 'marijuana therapy.' He took the name of a couple treating MMJ doctors so he could recommend them to some of his patients who share my condition.
The truth will set you free and if it doesn't with that doctor find one who IS interested in truth.

If he's anti cannabis and kicks you off his list, better off without a doc like that anyway. Even if he's pro cannabis, he still may not consider it a viable alternative to his pharmaceuticals.
Most doctors are still afraid to even say the word cannabis let alone tell you it will enhance your health. Same with all the other natural compounds used in Ayurvedic medicine. They don't cover it in school and will rarely mention the lack of nutrition as precursor to disease.
Fact is, we patients know much more about cannabis as medicine than most MDs.
My docs know I use cannabis and even the ones who are against it don't care and I wouldn't care if they did. I'm so damaged they all told me to just do whatever makes me feel better. This week it's 108 day Freetown Durban Poison during the day and O.G. hash at night. I feel better already.

I for one, have not given up hope that we will be more mainstream sometime in the near future.

I am a new patient of the MMMP. I would like to find a doctor that can also be my family physician for myself. I was hoping to find one that is MMMA friendly. Does anyone know of a web site like this? I live in the Troy, MI area.
What i did when i was looking for mine..I got out phone book...And i start calling..Explain whats wrong /meds you need/take..and let them know you are using medical Cannabis..One has to be willing to take you..Good luck..And where bouts are you located? That could/might help..My family Dr. i had before this one..I educated him..He signed my app 2 years na a roll among alot of others..Educate them aslo..Show them the ruls and the law..Show them the aprt where Dr.s can NOT get n trouble..Leave them a copy and some things to go read like , hemperor Wears No Clothes..Run From The Cure,Ect..then make a appointment to go abck and talk about it and Brng your ap all filled out(what you can) this shows you are serious/it is for you..Cant hurt..iIt is what i did any ways..

The MOCC, is local to you, and thus built a list of known doctors who will not waste your time. I use Dr. Fredric neumann in sterling heights, but there are more choices.
You should get records from your primary doctor, this protects your recommending doctor. You will ask your primary doctor's office to provide you with "Your diagnosis and Plan of Care" - this will be at least one to 5 pages, and the office will be more willing to help you than "Hey, I want my entire medical records from 1968 to now! - today!" By stating exactly what you want, they know you are smart - so repeat after me "Diagnosis and Plan of Care" - its a medical term. If you saw a specialist, you ask for that doctor's "Diagnosis and Plan of Care" too.
You will likely pay cash, places like Dr.Neumann's will consider reduced rates for SSd/SSI/Medicare. The good thing is - they will not report this to your insurance company (unless you make him your primary doc) - so companies like HAP won't be a penis about you smoking or using marijuana and raise your rates. (they rate your healthy lifestyle and post your fees based on stuff like owning a gun or driving over 55 mph)
Go to the MOCC meeting this week www.thc4u.com - you want a physical support group!
