If I can't be there to ask myself, I want to know which of these idiots (with all due respect to the responsibilities of their entrusted and elector selected high-horse position of public stewardship) has the balls to follow through with this bunny muffin. I will tell you like it is...I don't give a goddamn about the making whoopee economy if my back hurts so bad it is hard to breathe. I do not trust the pharmaceutical giants and their marketing aimed at getting as many as possible, as soon as possible, and for as long as possible...not to mention the new and improved insurance system. and that money is a major player. When the bottom falls out of the medical system, they are going to wish they left these shaman growers alone. I don't think they can see through the haze of the smoke to understand the capabilities of other delivery systems...or they do and understand the implications on their finances with this revolution...just sayin

I haven't visited this board in a very long time- why? Because I do not need to be labelled as a criminal on top of fighting a chronic incurable illness. I have never tried to obtain certification nor a MM card because I read so many news reports of sick people and their caregivers being busted. I am in pain 24/7 and narcotics have caused me to have seizures in the past, I simply can NOT take them. Naturally this falls on deaf ears in the medical community. They don't care. They can't relate nor do they want to.

I can and will write a testimonial if you think it would help. No one should have to live in pain, nor should they fear being jailed for using a much safer pain remedy that should have been legalized long ago. I have had to claim bankruptcy due to my medical bills and if I were to be charged for possession. I do not have the funds or energy to deal with that scenario.

If I can help, I will.

In my personal opinion, I agree with you Earth. Our Ballot proposal, Petition, and Law all make it pretty clear, any Citizen of Michigan can use Cannabis Medically.

If that Citizen choses to get a Drs Recommendation, apply for a Atate Registry Card, and has an encounter with LEO, then they have the protections outlined in Sec 4) so long as they are within the limits and "Reasonable".

For those like yourself, that choose not to Trust our Government (and Who can Really blame you, I know I can not cast that stone) to implement and follow the law in good faith, and make targets out of those that have come against some LEO Agencies throughout the State. No one can look around as say the State of MI has done a great job of it, And that definatly includes many Counties and LEO Agencies as well as Others in Higher Offices in the state.

So if you (those without recommendations, or on the registry) have issues, then you ll be arrested, and put thru the court system, BUT per Sec 8), you by law have the right to pose a Medical Defense, and will have to subpoena a Dr to testify you will infact get benefits, and the amount/plants you had at the time were Reasonable, Which many of our Courts are willfully adjudicating out of possibility with the draconian rulings.

I believe some see anyone without a card as a black eye, but I honestly think most see only those purposely stretching things as bad apples.

We would all be hypocrits if anyone chastised someone for using cannabis, registry card or not.

But with that said, the current state of affairs, and the ills those in power want to presume upon the people, just sharing a medistick with someone is grounds for 7 to 14 yrs... Especially if they are not on the Registry. So this street goes in both directions, and both lanes of traffic have to understand and work with the other lane so we dont end up in the middle of a circle jerk with Bull Schuitte as the Pivot Man.

I have had a return of my bladder cancer. This new tumor was spotted on my bladder on 2/15/2012.

I've taken a chance and placed the normal proceedings on hold for ninety days.

I had asked for thirty days. The doctor said six weeks. Scheduling said ninety days.

First comes a CT scan on 2/29. This will provide me with a check point. My target is a 50% reduction in the size of the tumor in those first two weeks.

A failure to at least stop the growth of the tumor would be cause to reconsider the Simpson method.

The Rick Simpson procedure, is the process of eating 60 grams of essential oil extracted from the cannabis plant. This sixty grams is eaten as quickly as reasonable.

Usually it is eaten in 60 to 90 days.

In theory, this oil is being used in a pattern similar to antibiotics. Bring the body to a therapeutic dosage level and keep it there for a period of time.

The "high" complicates the the procedure. To prevent causing discomfort to the patient, it is necessary to start with small doses, perhaps 25mg 3 times per day, and gradually build the dosage until the patient is consuming more than 1000 mg per day.

The average joint may have 15-25 mg of THC in it.

I am at peak consumption levels at the time of the hearing today. Today, I've had someone else drive me here. A urine screen of me would probably show more that 500 ng. 5 ng is the level that triggers a positive screen.

I can drive well like this. It would be very expensive to have to prove it.

So my choice is to

1. remain home and not speak today and continue my chemotherapy program.

2. discontinue my chemotherapy for the required time to legally drive here to testify.

3. have someone else drive me here.

Any other pharmaceutical or chemotherapy drug would never have such a problem. I'd like you folks to understand this. When cannabis is used as real medicine, the patient can have very large numbers in their blood or urine. For the person that is taking regular doses, high testing results do not represent the same effect as do high numbers in the irregular user.

If someone else were to consume the same amount as I do, and it was the first time they ever used any cannabis, the person would probably sleep for two days.

Yet, because I break the doses evenly over the course of the day, these quantities of THC have little psychoactive effect on me.

This procedure is being used by dozens if nut hundreds of patients across Michigan today.

To produce the essential oil needed for this procedure, requires one pound of high quality marijuana. The essential oil is collected from this one pound of marijuana and it is then eaten by the patient.

For the record. I believe there has been a change in federal legal status.

Cannabis was found to have no accepted use in medicine within the United States. It was found that way by law. There were no tests conducted to arrive at that finding.

This was a matter of law. It was not a matter of science, medicine or fact. It is a matter of law.

Cannabis is in schedule one of the federal controlled substance act. It was placed there by law, not hearing or science.

Cannabis may be removed from schedule one.

Hearings may be scheduled to consider the proper placement of cannabis within the schedules.

There are many steps in the process. Some of those steps allow the DEA to say "no" to the hearing process.

Another way that cannabis can be removed from schedule one is by congress passing another law. Which was done by the US congress in 2009. For Washington DC only.

Congress took an action that blocked the DEA from acting in Washington DC when their dispensaries open.

Representatives and Senators, please ask the US Congress to allow Michigan the same protections that are allowed the citizens of Washington DC.

I injured my back in the army back in 1993-1994 somewhere around that time frame and was only able to walk but with some sort of support. I have been dealing with the pain with narcotics. The narcotics didn't help or touch the problem that I have been having. They still don't know why I am hurting. All they know is that I have bulging disc's and herniation. I can't or haven't been able to do anything without being in pain. Now that I have tried Medical Marijuana I am able to walk without support, I am able to walk my son down the street, I can walk without a problem. I was to a point where I couldn't work because I couldn't walk without pain or grabbing a hold of something when walking. I am able to walk without a walker or cane. I did a functional capacity exam and had no medicines and wasn't able to do hardly anything. I couldn't even lift 8lbs. Now I can lift a little bit more than 8 lbs and I can walk further as long as I am on my medical marijuana.

This has made a big impact on my life in the last year. I was bed ridden and wasn't able to do hardly anything and now I am able to do so much more. I am able to get out of the house as long as I have my medical marijuana with me.

I would like to be able to make it that day but have plans already on March 1st as it is my step daughters bday. Will someone take my letter to the courthouse and explain my side?

Thanks,

Demonicangel

Yes I will be submitting a testimonial along with my "Regular Family Doctor's" Positive report about how this med " Marihuana"

has had on my quality of life & he no longer needs to prescribe heavy narcotic painkillers, which he also happens to be a surgeon as well, in the Henry Ford Health System. I couldn't believe it when he said he wrote a supportive document for me to turn in to whoever it will help clear up this mess, and I just found a great place to share his and my documents! Thank you for the heads up

I am 62 years old and a very good citizen of our wonderful State of Michigan. I recently obtained my state issued medical marijuana patient's card after receiving recommendations from my many doctors. I have a legitimate qualifying condition in the form of glaucoma, macular Edema, chronic pain associated with inflamed retinas and monthly eye injections for the rest of my life and more. I have had 10 surgeries in the past 18 months and I am in constant pain. Please let it be known that I have experienced considerable relief and lower pressures treating my condition with medical marijuana. Now, because of negative publicity some are skeptical as I was. I have never smoked or ingested marijuana in my life until it was recommended to me by many of my specialist doctors that are world renouned. This prescription is the only one that has improved my well being, quality and way of life. I no longer take pharmacy addictive pain medication.

It has come to my attention that there is a new zone of legislation coming that is aimed at taking away the rights afforded patients by the Michigan Medical Marijuana Law. Setting the stage for these new proposals are the, opponents of the MMMAct gaffed by our Attorney General Schuette. It appears he has waged a well planned total state wide negative campaign. Sir, I promise you if he were in my shoes he would have a different opinion of medical marijuana as I now have.

In closing I and others like myself need legislative assistance to live a better life. After all the people have spoken and this is the finest country in the world by far. We are a democracy! It has been said by many that without help from understanding lawmakers, the MMMAct will soon be rendered useless to patients like myself. While these proposals are well intentioned, they will negatively impact my safe access to my medicine.

Please look after my healthcare and others like me. We do need your help.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

I am 50 years old and am already disabled for life. I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and chronic pain from a deformed hip and Disc Degenertive Disease (DDD) I have gone 35 years without smoking Marijuana just for the fact I did'nt like it. Over the years while I was able to work I have taken a huge amount of pain pills, and many different types of them as well. I sure your sitting there saying look there is legal meds for you to take, but at what cost my liver? I guess I could also drink till the pain leaves, But at what cost? My Liver or maybe the life of someone innocent that I hit and killed because of being impaired.

For my MS yes they have drugs to help slow it down, works about for 33% of people and the shot I give myself is called Rebif and cost around $4000 a month and eats my Liver up. Yes they have medicines for when I get spastic, that is where like for me the muscles in my legs try to pull in opposite ways, or when I'm sitting the decide to lift themselves and you can't stop them, ot my toes get stiff and curl, wish you could experience the pain someday.

Lucky for me they have meds to help relieve this but I suffer from Fatigue so bad it is easy for me to sleep 18 hours at a time. The side effect of this med is Fatigue. Do any of you think I need more than 18 hours of sleep?

Someone gave me an article about Medical Marijuana and how it was effective for helping with these symptoms, and he also gave me another article about a new drug called Sativex that is made right from marijuana and they are seeking approval here for their Cannibis based medicine. I'm sure it will get approved than What?

My friend brought over a couple different types of MMJ and ofr the first time my muscles relaxed, I did'nt need the drug companies medicine, I also take 3 80mg of Oxycontin to help regulate the pain and I was able to skip my nightly dose and I was also able to skip my Ambien a sleeping pill that night and for the first time in years I felt pain free.

I than went and got my MMJ card just to be legal, for where I live this was a big waste of money as I could just get someone to bring me some But, there are so many different types it seems I can never get the same type again and so many of these are made for a specif thing like, pain relief, sleep, energy, muscle relaxer or to just feel fuzzy. Now if I had a place to go I could get what I needed each and every time. Are you saying at my age and basicly crippled you don't think I deserve to feel the best I can each and every day? Is this what you want for your parents and grandparents?

Is our AG not an elected offical? Is it his duty to do the will of the people and not his personel agenda? Should he be using taxpayer dollars to further his career? He and most of you forget that you are on Public Assistance as the public pays your wages and benefits. How does the AG plan to replace the lost money from this? We are trying to rebuild the Great State of Michigan not tear it down based on one mans personal agenda. I want to know if the AG accepts money from big Pharma because with them trying to get a cannibis based plant approved here I think it would be a conflict of interest.

I hope that the rest of you side with the people who overwhelmingly voted this in and did not intend for our constitutional rights to be trampled on. My only wish now is that the AG or someone real close gets to a point where they would benefit from MMJ and than we would see kind if humane he really is

I just wanted to include my testimonial as a non Medical Marijuana user...

Since the law went in to effect, my day to day life has not changed at all. And I would just like for someone to ask the members heading these hearings, during the hearings, how THEIR lives have changed since the law was enacted. As non users, their lives should have just went on as normal. As posted already, there are people benefiting from using marijuana to ease their suffering...why force them to use prescription drugs with horrible side effects?

I'm sure it isn't much to add, but I think the only alteration this bill needs is verbiage that explicitly makes dispensaries legal.

Here's a story to add to the pile. I have also emailed this to the mmmatestify@gmail.com address.

-----------------

I have a degenerative spinal condition that causes pain 24 hours a day, every day. At times the pain levels can go off the charts. This condition has cost me my job and the active life that I had known. It has driven me to over a dozen different doctors and therapists, spinal fusion surgery, and filling at least 20 various prescriptions for general pain, nerve pain, muscle spasms, anxiety, constipation, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and sleep problems.

Like anyone dealt this hand, I felt I should try my best to get the most out of the time I had left here but the pain was just overwhelming. For nearly a year I treated this problem with pills - painkillers, muscle relaxers, and sleeping medications. I was able to keep my sanity largely because I was barely conscious most of the days. I was just trying to get through this time.

Given the permanence of my disease, it struck me one day that ‘just trying to get through this time’ really meant I’d be semiconscious for the rest of my life. I was desperate to find another course of treatment. Doing some research online, I learned about the MMMA and how medical grade cannabis was able to help people with pain from damaged nerves.

For me, the change was dramatic. Powerful cannabis was able to turn down the volume on my pain signals. I have been able to nearly eliminate the pills that I had become dependent upon. I am now able to actually participate in my life again. I know the cannabis won’t cure my condition but I am now able to live as opposed to just existing. I think my wife is happier now too living with a husband rather than a zombie.

An easy and more effective alternative to the bill that requires a police database, which allows police to instantly verify that someone is a valid patient, from anywhere, anytime, without a database::

This is so easy it's ridiculous... I can't figure out why this hasn't been done in the first place.

They could take the initials and the birthdate of the patient, and the expiration date of the card... say BRF_01-20-1982_04-01-2012 and encrypt it with a key that only cops and government officials have access to. This would mean there would be a unique number on each card that could not be altered, and would be easily and instantly verifiable anywhere without a central database. Easy as pie. Please ask if you have any questions.

To All Attending the Hearing: I will be thinking about you and hope they will allow you to speak, remembering when at other hearings, they've said you could, then tried to clip that 3 minutes down to 1, then tried to clip that down to 30 seconds. My heart is with you, and has been since I joined this site, though I'm not here much anymore. I did see some good news in my local paper, one of the townships decided not to implementan ordinance, at least for now, and someone who seemed to have some common sense said he felt the law was adaquate enough

Bless you all. I Love You All very Much.

Sincerely, Sb :bighug:

Changed my mind set from recreational to medical in "72" after being told by doctor after 1st back surgery that I would likely need to use pain medication for the rest of my days. I for one did not want to be a zombie or chance the side affects! 40 years, more injuries resulting in three more serious surgeries. The last one took three years of rehab only to retire early on a medical after two years. I contracted hep c from tranfusion in "72" which was discovered 35 years after the fact..so in hind site not burdening my liver with 40 years of toxins was a sound decision. Living with prohibition has been hell..living in the light of knowledge a ray of hope is realized. I feel as a patient you need to have hope to heal your self! This herb has allowed me to work, to be a family man , to have a life with a clear mind..to be active an alert. Helps with sleep, appetite, muscle spasm, pain and attitude.I find it most effective or best to use all forms of medicating at some point in a 24 hour window. I can only hope that my sharing helps...someone..some where ..some how ! This is very personal for me to share..in between these lines is a story in it self.
