What Conditions Are Like Epilepsy Or Multiple Sclerosis?

Recommended Posts

I was speaking to someone the other day about the MMMP. In discussing the diseases and conditions covered, I pointing out that there were two conditions that were indirectly mentioned. These two are epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. The exact wording reads: seizures, including but not limited to those characteristic of epilepsy; or severe and persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to those characteristic of multiple sclerosis.

I was then asked the question that I could not answer: what conditions produces seizures characteristic of epilepsy; and which ones leave the patient with persistent muscle spasms characteristic of multiple sclerosis.

I am now on an internet search for those conditions. If you know of others, please list them. These would be the things that should be detailed under Section 3 (3) as other medical condition or its treatment approved by the department.

The conditions that produce seizures characteristic of epilepsy includes: low sodium or glucose, blood vessel is defective in the brain, head injury, cavernous hemangioma, arteriovenous malformation, encephalitis, meningitis, multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), kidney failure, liver failure, heart disease, high blood pressure, migraines, narcolepsy, Tourette's syndrome, and of course epilepsy.

The conditions that produces persistent muscle spasms characteristic of multiple sclerosis includes: dystonia, abnormal blood vessels of the brain, CNS tumors, degeneration of the nervous system, Lyme disease, fibromyalgia, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), sarcoidosis, spinal vascular malformations, stroke, Binswanger’s disease, neurosyphilis, human T-cell lymphotrophic virus-1 (HTLV-1), Myasthenia Gravis (MG), Benign essential tremor, Wernicke's encephalopathy, Parkinson's disease, Tetany, and multiple sclerosis. Another disease that fits is Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis [which is listed in 3 a (1)].

Many of these conditions I had not heard of before today. I would not surprise to find that most of us were unaware of these ailments. Those that I have heard of, also come with a side of pain and discomfort. These are the people who should, and are to be covered under Section 3 a (2). It should not be necessary for a panel to spell out each of these conditions, but it may have to happen in order for the medical/law enforcement crowd to see what is missed when a packaged is wrapped to tight.

Those who oppose the use of marihuana as medicine have made jokes about people with made-up pain. It’s too bad that they will have to become afflicted to understand what being sick really means.

Quite the list of bad diseases and disorders. I have MS along with other issues, several listed in each, the pain is very hard to treat but the muscle spasms which are very painful also are almost non-existent by using cannabis. None of the prescribed meds I took gave me relief. There is an umbrella list of diseases and disorders that are suppose to be linked and there are a few of them on these lists.

I wonder also if there are doctor who are not aware of this and more then likely potential patients who would qualify for MMJ who do not know that it would help relief their suffering.

as you mention in re seizures: low blood sugar for diabetics would be one...

I have to fight with extreme ups and downs with by diabetes, I am glucose intolerant, sugar lows can make one feel like they are dying and they actually can end up in a coma or die. It seems that MM has helped a lot of diabetics keep their sugar levels under control. It hasn't helped me with this but it is nice to know there is an alternative for some. My diabetic specialist doc has no clue about the benefits of MM, I am informing him lol. :)

The MMMP states: seizures, including but not limited to those characteristic of epilepsy; or severe and persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to those characteristic of multiple sclerosis.

I can see the argument in court being that not all seizures and/or muscle spasms have the characteristics of epilepsy or MS. And honestly, they don’t.
