@ Michael, thanks for the recognition.

I see Repubs are losing their grip in the Mich House as their count decreased from 64-46 to 59-51. Hopefully that plus all the lobbying work will slow any future undemocratic house bills meant to undermine the peoples' initiative.

You are correct. But let's not rest on our laurels even if the House turns some day. Remember, Granholm was against med mj and she insisted it is a gateway drug. Be wary of certain dems too.

hemp bills should be rated.  SB 783 should be rated(negatively). Couple others.

Thanks

In Michigan on Tuesday, Sen. Rick Jones’s SB 783 passed the Senate with a vote of 31 to 7. This bill — which is now pending in the House Judiciary Committee — would allow landlords to prohibit medical marijuana cultivation and smoking in the privacy of one’s residence.  Meanwhile, more sensible bills including HB 4271 and HB 5104, which protect patient access, currently languish in committee.

This bill would allow landlords to prohibit marijuana cultivation as well as smoking — but not vaporizing — when a lease specifically limits these activities. Those who violate a lease would be subject to sanctions, taking patient rights backwards to the days before the current law was passed in 2008. This bill would limit these rights without addressing fundamental problem in Michigan’s law — the lack of safe and regular access through state-legal provisioning centers and protections for non-smoked forms of the medicine.

Also, there may be conflict within the community on whether Callton, Cotter, Richardville, etc. are friends or foes. How should we handle that?

pull up callton, cotter and richardville votes from 2012 bills

also any quotes they might have made and make a new poll asking people to vote in the forum if they are friend or foe

callton's 'vote for 4271 to end home grows' quote comes to mind

and richardville's 'i'm going to sit on these bills'

June 18 I'm in Wayne County 36th District with a (civil) jury trial on my landlord (a patient, with grow rights) attempting to prohibit cultivating as a condition of my tenancy.  He says, "It's my house."

kind of late with this one:

To provide readers with information on the three
Democratic State Representative candidates for
Michigan’s 106th District in the August 5 th Primary,
the Alcona Citizen invited Rozanne Curley, Robert
Kennedy, and Scot McKenzie to answer questions on
current issues. Ms. Curley did not respond. Following
are the questions and answers in abridged form.

Robert Kennedy Scot McKenzie

Question 8 covered medical marijuana, the
growing of non-intoxicating industrial hemp for
commercial uses, and the legalization of marijuana
for recreational use.
Both candidates support legal medical marijuana
and legalizing agricultural/industrial hemp because
of the jobs it would create without causing public
health or safety problems. Mr. McKenzie does not
support legalizing marijuana for recreational
purposes because he believes it would not be
beneficial to our state or the safety of our residents.
Mr. Kennedy does not support legalization at this
time, preferring to see how legalization works out in
Colorado and Washington.
