SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. - On Friday, police in Sierra Vista arrested a woman for cultivating and possessing marijuana after they found more than the legally allowed number of marijuana plants in her residence.

Police responded to domestic violence call at a home on West Martin Drive, and while on the scene, learned both individuals had medical marijuana cards and were growing marijuana in the back bedroom, according to a news release from Sierra Vista P.D. Arizona law allows one person to grow up to 12 plants, meaning the legal allotment for that home was 24 plants.

Officers counted 25 plants inside the home and six outside the residence, the release states. Officers also found seven empty pots with agitated soil, and an investigation determined that 47-year-old Sierra Vista resident Mary Brown had ripped six of the plants out of their pots before law enforcement arrived.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the home, and Brown was arrested and charged with: Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Production of Marijuana, and Tampering with Evidence, the release states. She was booked into the Cochise County Jail.
