And the word on the streets are we will see less and less card holder the word is out most don't trust the Government and can anyone blame them 

IMHO we/the MMMA needs to keep as many card holders as we can and that can happen with a Great ruling from the High Court 

 

We need a Court Case that will make people know the card is real and it's the best way to stay safe

My card expired while I was in the hospital so I would be among those. But it only expired because I wasn't physically able to renew, not because I don't trust the system. (Even though I don't.)

to answer my own question, lara rejected 10000 applications, that explains the patient number fluctuating.

 

when were the new forms issued ? be interesting to compare the rejection numbers to the introduction of the 2page superlong forms.

Which new forms? They have changed them twice. The first change was why I didn't get a two year card. They didn't have the forms out in time, and even though I was squarely into the two year card date line in the law, they didn't give me a two year card because I used the only form available when I saw my doctor 6 weeks before renewal. Then they switched back to the old forms. They mess things around and we lose every time.

Does anyone know why so many applications are denied each year? It seems statically that the increase in denials stays within the same percentage of over all applicants, interesting... With Michigan's population in the 9 million range, the number of registered patients statewide is surprising low.

they are denying about 1000 applicants per month, or around 10,000+ applications per year.

 

mostly for moo poo reasons. e.g.

you sent in a renewal application but your card expired a few days ago, you didnt send it certified so you cant prove they recieved it when it was still valid.

or the doctor didnt initial on the (now obsolete) long form

or the doctor didnt check the box next to where he wrote the diagnosis

or you sent in an old form but lara just changed to new forms. (this happens february 1st people! new forms!)

or the address you provided didnt match with your drivers license

or they couldnt read your drivers license (this is why i send in zoomed copy 300% size of my DL)

or they couldnt read your doctors scribble handwriting

Or they decided that because a 30 year old misdemeanor doesn't specifically say misdemeanor and they want you to go to your local judge and ask for forgiveness in writing to them. That's a tall order for someone who wants to stay annonymous to the courts about their cannabis use. They did this only after letting it slide for years, then they decided to get pickier about your records. I'm sure there are all kinds of tricks like this to kick you to the curb we haven't even heard of. All it takes is one glich or farse by LARA and poof they are back hiding again.

LARA site used to show the following type information at the below link, but the link is broken now.  I searched LARA for this info as it reflects info as ti pertains to active patients and caregivers, rather than how many new registrations of patients there are...  Does anybody know where one can find more current information than that below: Michigan Medical Marihuana Program Statistics as of 5/31/2013:

the card holders I know would never be growing if they thought that following the rules of the program would put them in court. we do worry for those who don't understand the rules, and those blatant few who hide behind a card for arrest protection.

We are doing our own study of the numbers and finding some very interesting results.  For one, if you add up all the percentages from the state, you come to 102%.  My study comes to 170%.  The only reasonable conclusion is that the state is only counting one condition per patient.  The second interesting thing I am seeing is that my statistics for things like glaucoma and cancer show about 3 times as many patients claim those conditions as the state statistics show.

 

The only reasonable conclusion is that there appears to be an effort to manipulate the stats to decrease the named conditions like cancer and crohn's while skewing the results for the more minor symptoms like nausea and cramping.

 

One final note is that there are 19,000 Aids patients in Michigan compared to millions of chronic pain patients.  It is completely understandable that the percentage of Aids patients in the registry should be much smaller than the percentage of pain patients.

I also believe they are only using one affliction.  I am a patient with a number of debilitating health issues.  My doctor chose one, TMJ, this is a problem for me, however my 3 herniated disks in neck or my degenerative disk disease is far more seriose than the TMJ.  Now this doctor did suggest return visits for massage therepy which was cool.  Nevertheless, only one illness is on the cert.
