except tomatoes produce fruit, and cannabis produces flowers. you are right though, a weed is a weed. I've seen cannabis finish in a driveway crack, windowsill, office cabinet drawer, in rocks, gravel, wood chips, lava rocks, Styrofoam, gelatin, bubbles, and in a tree trunk, and even with roots hanging in a fogged plastic bag!

The substrate may not be as important as the available nutrients and atmosphere conditions.

soil-in-hydro observations after two strains: the flip into water causes a tripling in the weight (size) of plant fiber.  the strains were lemon cake--s dom 70% and real killer skunk--i dom 80%.  both were grown in soil to the point they were root bound (3 gal pots, 25-28" tall).  then for the transition to 12/12 holes drilled in the bottoms, and the pots dropped into dro. (24-hour flow in lava rock). in the water, the stalks enlarged 3 times in the first 21 days, and most stems twice, making the stretch the fastest bulking period of veg.   (i consider veg to be through day 21 of 12/12, and so i feed veg nutes until day 22).

been considering something along those very lines pic...

i was thinking about using river rock since i have a heaping pile full of them..

are you top watering at all anymore? or just allowing the absorption to wick up into the pot?

i wondered about using a auto water drip line on the tops with a "flowing fresh water river" of sorts... with river rock being the substrate at the plant locations..

either a long slow top flow or one on a timer.. not sure if they would even need top watering other than to help force "off gassing"

just fantasizing... :)

Can someone put the good KISS Link back up . Having a hard time finding it . I am looking to building self watering pots from 5 gallon buckets . Have the idea already but just looking for nutrients suggestions as looking to keep it all organic . I used fox farms happy from granual and had great results just looking to spice it up .
