grass, you should be asking lawyers in these towns why they dont fight these charges? call up all the public defenders and let them know that the transport law was unconstituional and does not apply to patients.

i've read multiple cases on this forum about people whos lawyers did not listen to them. not to mention read many appeals where the client/defendant claims the lawyer didnt tell them squat and told them to plea because it would be easier.

but yes, i've also read on the forums that some people will take plea deals because it is cheaper/easier etc. so it does happen both ways.

The police then pulled her over, searched her, and found cannabis, for which she was cited for "improper transport." This, in turn lead to a violation of probation and the eventual filing of a warrant for her arrest, although her attorney believes the "improper transport charge" will be dismissed (a motion to dismiss has already been filed).

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On March 21 at 12:33 a.m. an officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Maple and Fenton Roads and ran the plate to check it. It came back as a voided plate due to insurance fraud. Upon pulling over and speaking with the 56 -yearold Burton man, the officer noticed an odor of marijuana and the driver denied having any but did admit to having a medical marijuana card. The officer called for a tow for the improperly licensed vehicle and per policy searched and inventoried the cars contents, finding a baggie of marijuana in the back seat. The driver stated he hadn’t smoked any since the previous day but was cited for improper transport and given a ride home. — P.S.

looks like not so much Sanilac county anymore. this transport thing has me confused. I lock it up, in a case, where I cant get to it just in case. lawyers are expensive but I think I would have to fight it with everything I had. Hopefully someone does soon, or everyone just locks it in a case I suppose.
