Low Odor Strains

Norby

Recommended Posts

I've already spent too much on filters and even the gators can't keep up with the smell.  I'm not switching from organic so what strains out there are relatively low odor and still pack a wallup?  Looking for mostly indicas and kush'.

So far I've read Quantum Kush has a light smell.  I'm partial to TGA strains and they are available locally.  Trying to keep the wife happy :)

Ha ! I've had the same wife issue in the past. Switching from organic won't help a bit, non organic dirt/hydro stinks to high heaven also.

I absolutely love 100% of TGA strains maybe for the same reasons you do? these "stinks" are the very active ingredients are that you and I seek for relief,

and find patients that also need the same relief. After all the socks, filters, ozone,

etc, same as you prolly, I built an outdoor steel building with a top grow room inside one end. that's how I solved the issue. I sealed the room and no smells escape now.

The recycling dirt I keep  outside of the room does smell though unfortunately. generated ions take care of that. I do harvest in the work area in there, and then bring it into my home for drying, in a room with a 2x4 tent in a closet. the room is controlled, and no smells escape, until I open the tent. I exhaust the tent air through a sock, and back into the room. works so far. after hundreds of strains grown the only one I would suggest to fit your bill is Critical +. beware the awesome smell in dry will quickly disappear after only a coupe weeks. not my favorite, but is fast flowering, full bodied, fat colas, uniform. good luck

is that Cinderella 99 ? She is one of my oldest strains, from Brothers Grimm breeder. She may be the top 5 stinkiest plants I've ever grown. The acrid smell of sweet rotting pineapples masks any other plants growing at the time. Its a very curious powerful plant. I'm wondering what the "cc" is that tames this popular trait well known in C99?

I was going to suggest that one Pic book. Wasn't that his own cross?

Or is it straight C99?

I know regular C99 does smell although not a lot like say a Skunk#1.

Definetely not skunky at all, more fruity musky type smell.

But it is odorous..for sure.

Dr Greenthumb is working on an Ordorless variety as we speak.

He said that it should be out soon.. Maybe he got some of DJ's beans?

My wife thinks it all smells "skunky" she doesn't really differentiate the strong smells.  Endless sky I could hold in front of her nose with her eyes closed and she couldn't tell it was there but I didn't really like it, probably because of what you said.  I go for the ones that stink to hi heaven because they work best for me.

.  C99 is mostly sativa Isn't it?  I need something mellower till I get out of debt.  I expect to enjoy them thoroughly when I reduce my stresses but not in the near future.

Totally forgot about being able to put a sock over the outflow and maybe a dryer sheet in it.  It's in a room in the basement and it vents outside the room into the open basement.  Summer will be better as I'll vent outside and create a vacuum in the basement instead of recirculating in the basement.

Got hi hopes for Quantum Kush.  Going to get my Lemon75 tested this week and trying to find if there is a correlation between certain profiles and smell so I can shy away from similar profiles or elevated levels of certain terpenes.  Seems most of them give off odor though as I've had extremely strong smelling lemon, grape, musky, earthy, etc.  Pinene though seems to be less stinky and more aromatic.  My wife liked the smell of the stuff she remembers people smoking when she was in college, slightly sweet and not overpowering, probably more commercially dried in which the heat and handling would release the terpenes or it was more sativa which doesn't help me at this point unless I up my xanax from half a .25 a day.  Don';t want to do that.  Very relieved with the resources here in Michigan, it'll make it a lot easier.

I'll just have to keep looking and telling her to close her eyes and holding it closer till she smells it.  Some I don't even have to try obviously.

good idea ilynn, I was thinking dj short seeds as I read this thread. a lot of them are subtle vanilla and lighter floral.

i'd caution anyone against attempting scent masking agents like ona or dryer sheets unless you're interested in transferring those artificial aromas into your medicine. move the cat litter box out of the basement while your at it.

I run 4(36") in my grow rooms, one (12 inch)inside my dry tent, and one in the room (12inch)where the dry tent is in, full time for a smell free experience.

bounce works for a dorm bowl exhale, useless in a grow room though.

Ya, I have 1 18 inch in my veg and 2 green gators in flower and an 18 inch in dry.  Soon I'll be venting outside and was thinking of the dryer sheets in the exhaust so it smelled like laundry for the little smell that gets thru the filter.  Stink soc I was thinkin of goes at the end of the vent and isn't a carbon filter, just a soc or pantyhose over the exhaust holding some kind of scent or ona.

The ona never got into the smell of my mj but I only used a small gel bottle near the exhaust.  Never wanted to use an ionizer after I tasted some grown in a room with an ionizer.

Kosher Kush is on my to get list and I'll check out dj shorts stuff. Thanks for the replies!

His Endless sky I could hold under my wifes nose and she couldn't smell a thing.  Think he's already got it.  Grew that only for the week of my wedding when I had 200+ people around the yard and no one was any wiser as far as I know.  Passed the wife test.

Blueberry gum seemed pretty odorless but it was a sativa pheno and wasn't great for my syndrome.

I agree with the stinky works better but does it really need to be stinky when it's cured?  I walked outside of a store and could smell stinky from my car 25 yards away and decided I would work on a curing process that would reduce the smell without losing it's potency. The patients seem to like it because they can go anywhere with it and don't have to worry that someone can smell it on them or there car.  I can honestly say I can't feel any difference between the regular curing and the no smell curing process. When I am done curing the non-stinky looks exactly like the stinky stuff and as far as I can tell potency runs about the same.

from the day of harvest flowers degrade, as well as their active compounds. everyday exposed to air, light, heat, handling will further degrade the bud. I know some people prefer over ripe apples, and over ripened cannabis, but unfortunately the compounds change into other compounds not necessarily appreciated by all users of either. For a full shot of everything a plant can offer in bud form I find consuming it soon after 75% of it's water weight has evaporated is my best experience. I built my dry closet controls(temps/air flow/exchange/RH per the grow bible and my harvests are ready to sample  in a couple/few days, and ready for delivery in around 8 days just like the Jorge said. :bong7bp:

No, c99 (stinky) and cc99 (no stink) and only Krusty, the breeder, knows the recipe for the cc99's NO ODOR.  Krusty was also the operator the of the Burrien County Compassion club.  Haven't seen him around for awhile...anybody?  PM me.

If a plant appeared in my garden that did not have a full bodied terpene profile, I would cull it, personally. Of hundreds of strains grown and sampled the only ones that sucked, were the ones that had no smell.

Berrien County club raided? maybe that fellow is in jail?  was that a "famers market" ?

I agree with the smell as do a LOT of others.  I do have one patient who is a newbie and it wouldn't be bad to have something "lighter" in the garden.  I'm getting back to experimenting.  Everything is good for something.  I grew russian rocket fuel outdoors and it smoked like a cigar.  The vegetation left behind big black coal, tasted like crap and was harsh.  I think it was from it's ruderalis background.  Vaporizing it was a joy.  Great motivation, bright and like taking a valium without the sleepiness.  Best medicinal for me that I've ever found.  Could've been some part that I grew them in April indoors/outdoors and they finished about the end of May which is my most productive and joyous time of the year.  It didn't have those qualities when I grew it inside in the winter though.  It did throughout the summer though when I grew it outside.  Perfect little plants.  Some were only 10-12" tall and about 3/4oz yield.  I can't wait to try pennywise as I think it may be the CBD that is an essential part of the meds for me. If the vegetation tastes like crap you can always vaporize, make medibles, oil or kief it. The russian rocket fuel was a stinker too.  I think they'd be great for outdoors as you could build a top opening kennel that could be 2 feet tall and grow outside much more hidden and the plants go from seed to harvest in about 8 weeks.  You can harvest as early as June and then throughout the whole growing season.

Don't know, I've never smelled rotten mangoes.  Sounds about right, slightly skunky mostly sweet and another overpowering odor I can't put my finger on.

Kinda fixed the problem by using a green gator filter in the tent leading to a Phresh inline filter.  I mopped up all the dust and that seems to have taken care of the problem of dust as the prefilters look bleached still over a month later.  I wrote the company about the inline filter and haven't heard back.  It works and that's what counts but the rivets(bolts) are in the kneck of the filter where you put the fan but the bolts keep the fan from nesting and they don't provide felt to close the gap.  The mesh extends into the neck where you put the fan(which is why there are bolts in the neck holding the mesh against the wall, well most of it, there is a gap where you can see the carbon bag) which there is a cap on the mesh on every other filter I've ever got.  There were 2 dents on the top and bottom corners? that were siliconed and a dent on the side.  It looked as if it was put together with tools you can find in my garage.

It was his own cross and 100% odorless in grow, tho in the jar after a week it stank---reeked.  It was not in demand in 2011 and that really disappointed him, cause it was great genetics--brother's grimm genetics reworked--a breeding project of his that worked stellarly but flopped in the marketplace.   He ended up giving the beans away.  Was easy to grow, and low light, and looked like c99 with the same whollop.  But the beans were standard and in 2011 if it wasn't femmed it did not sell--i know, i offered seeds in my disp.

'low odor but still pack a whallop?'  well, these have no odor, none, until rubbed. When I grew them, i did not have or need a filter.

auto hindu kush.  thc 16.

short stuff #1.  thc is under 16, had no test, but i'd still rate potency as 7/10.

little red ryder hood.  thc 16-22.  have had tests at both numbers.

great white shark, from lowlife seeds.  potency 8/10.

and here's one that smells mild citrus with no pot odor, and yields way beyond the no-smells above:  white widow auto, thc 15.
