NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
Seeking: web developer, marketing associate, and budtender.

The jobs run the gamut, but they're all open positions at companies in the marijuana industry, 15 of which will be talking to potential candidates Thursday at a cannabis related job fair in Denver.

The industry has been growing in Colorado ever since medicinal marijuana dispensaries were legalized in 2000, but growth exploded this year after the state legalized recreational

Amazing isn't it? All that overhead jacking up the price that just comes out of the poor guy's pocket that is buying those $75 1/8 ounces.

Did you guys see that news piece on TV where the dispensary owner's elderly parents are trimming buds in the back room? If you think they like that job then you haven't ever trimmed buds all day.

The marijuana industry is like a huge boulder rolling down hill, running over even cannabis user in it's path, to make a select few rich. Makes you really thankful for what we have here, a small slice of cannabis heaven.

I agree with some of your thoughts. I see a bunch of people willing to pay high prices for their supply and ease, and a bunch of people willing to either grow it for them, or buy in bulk, make profit, and sell to them. Either way the patients have spoken, and they gainfully support the establishments to prove it.

It's that way with everything exchanged in our country I think. big pharma used to do the same thing decades ago with cannabis, till poppies became so abundantly available : (

IMHO there is a lot of patients that can't grow and for a lot of reasons the first that come to mind is Court, Lawyers, as many here know Cannabis arrest are up in this State and some are because of people can't count or maybe its because they live in Oakland County

But i do see things are getting better if you are only using Cannabis and not growing IMHO that is also some of the reasons why some may not choose to grow

DENVER - Colorado's first marijuana industry job fair saw a big turnout in Denver Thursday.

In fact, a line had formed outside two hours before the fair opened and stretched around the block for much of the day.

The CannaSearch job fair featured 15 large marijuana-related companies hoping to hire new employees for a range of multiple positions, from "budtender to bookkeeper." Other positions are available in accounting, technology, advertising and selling the drug.

"I heard about this on Saturday and I’ve been looking for work," said Joseph Siddiq, a former Marine who moved to Denver from Seattle.

Another potential employee, Shannon Irvin, said she moved from St. Louis to work in the budding new business. She hopes to walk out of the job fair with an offer.

"I came here today so I could get in the industry and see how far I can go with my career," she said.

The job fair took place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1058 Delaware St. in Denver. It was expected to draw about 700 job seekers.

"About 145-150 jobs avail that are almost immediate," said Todd Mitchem, Chief Revenue Officer for O.pen Vape, the business hosting the fair.

Mitchem says his business alone expects to hire 120 people over the next year.

"It speaks to the idea this is legitimate," Mitchem said. "We as job seekers want to be accepted if we use cannabis. We want to be welcomed into a workforce, not ridiculed, villainized and judged for it."

"There’s still a lot of stereotypes, so I’m here to dispel that and show that dedicated professional people are willing to work to something lucrative and to something that’s going to help the state, the city (and) everyone all around," Siddiq said.

All potential employees had to be 21 or older.

According to our partners at the Denver Post, use of marijuana is prohibited in line or at the fair.

If a poor guy is buying 75 dollar eights he must not be poor. Its recreational pot over there, got nothing to do with patients.

You need to see the people who didn't even have the $75, they are in line to go to jail. The $75 an eighth will make sure there's funding to put them there when they cheat the money grubbers. When you set it up so that some can afford it and some cannot you build a trap for the poor.

I dont get it man..its legal pot. Why would they go to jail? Were not talking about disabled or terminally ill people here. Were talking about people who have the ability to work and generate an income. Its not obamacare, you dont have to buy it.

You go to jail because you can't afford to, or just didn't, buy yours at the dispensary. The only legal pot, from the dispensary, pays for cops and jails for everyone else. It's easy to see it man.

There hasnt been legal marijuanna for many decades. You guys got it backwards. The people getting arrested for marijuanna in colorado today, are the people that didnt take the time to understand or even care to learn the very basic parts of the law...but there not going to jail. They get a misdemeanor. Cant afford to buy it? You can grow six plants and even gift an ounce to each of your buddys. Now what exactly is so bad about that?

When I was in denver in August, I called some guy on craigslist and he delivered a quarter to my hotel for $40. Not sure where you are getting $75 per eighth from. Maybe idiots pay that much...

I did not say that cannabis has been legal for decades, only that I have believed in :

decriminalization   = removing criminalization (ie, removed from Controlled Substance list)

legalization         = regulation & taxation

for decades.

A simple dictionary will help in understanding the difference between the two :hair:

I also feel that decrim most likely won't happen as uncle sam has to have the entire pie, which leaves us with only the crumbs.

I have my little piece of the pie pergamum and am doing more than hoping/ praying to keep it.

However much $$ can be made in the 'pot industry' as it is developing, buying stocks etc...

leaves me feeling that I would be selling my soul to the devil by contributing to the stripping of

our 'rights' by corporate entities.
