In Kent County District Court for a probable cause hearing on Wednesday, April 2, Assistant Kent County Prosecutor Jay Stone offered the men the chance to plead guilty to one charge of maintaining a drug house.

 

The drug house charge carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison while the other charges could result in seven years in prison.

The catch is they have to resign from their jobs, testify against their fellow officers and agree to waive any claims under the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act.
 

that sounds like an awesome deal... glad they have a lawyer.

but why does bruce block keeps saying they broke the law? he should be saying the CoA opinion banning butter should be overturned. its bad form to say your defendant broke the law lol

My attny's work for me!  If your attny is not doing you right you can fire them and hire another, but to just say attny's are officers of the court is false, prosecuters and their teams are officers of the court, but not the defense attny's, They are my mouth peice and get paid by me!

Block was the only attorney willing to speak about the case after the hearing. He said the prosecution and the attorneys for the defendants are still negotiating on a deal at this point.

Block said he was not aware of the men partaking in distribution or conspiracy. He said the men made an "inadvertent mistake."

"They were trying to follow the act ... they didn't apparently do it quite right because the law, in my opinion, has been twisted and warped," Block said.

That may be, but if someone did not do anything wrong, I tell and show my lawyer I am innocent, he isn't about to come back to me twice with another plea deal. Or it will be his last time coming back to me, maybe I'm not understanding what an officer of the court is, like a bailif?

if I never told them I was going to and just blurted it out during examination, and the jury heard it would they call for a new jury, or just tell them to pretend they never heard it, and if they removed the jury, and got new folks, how many times could I get contempt, because if it was for medical use, I can't lie in the court of law.. You don't really have to answere all this nonsense, but really I personally wouldn't care, I would continue to say medical untill CNN got wind of it, idk..

Like everyone here can agree, all this ridiculous persecution, when it's obviously used for medical purposes, needs to stop, I'm 31 and I'm getting gray hair over every mmj case, and article I read, it's what, atleast one maybe two a week... It needs to stop. That's my rant

it can be judged to be a mistrial. the prosecutor can recharge you, the judge can give you contempt, and then you get to do it all again in a few months.

 deals happen  all the time and is something they have to deal with the rest of there lives and it an't  easy if you know you didn't do anything wrong

I totaly feel the same way as you, but you said it funnier than me,  yea what are they gonna do keep bringing in new jury's, im going down telling them it is mm bawahahahaha!

 

I want cnn, abc, nbc, cbs, msnbc and fox to get on it!

You know, i always wondered why some of these cases dont get media attention, at least in michigan. I watch the news almost everyday and most of what i see is detroit shootings.

no one should ever make a deal.... preserve your rights flood the system, the Michigan supreme court will rule different and its a complain to withdrawl a plea. flood these courts. the cases from 2 years ago are just goin to court now based on coa bs

We fount for almost 5 years and  it is not easy for some as most don't even have the $$  to fight  and the stress is sometimes to much to keep a family together and we had some media attention because we where the first ones to get raided here in Mich. 

 

It is hard and the Courts are not fair  just now we are hearing that Lawyers are getting  cases to the jury and that is the way we can win but better make sure you have a great Doctor that signed your Rec.  and your plant count is right  so it will hold up in a Court room
