Industrial hemp bills would legalize research in Michigan, define difference from marijuana

LANSING, MI -- State lawmakers are looking to legalize industrial hemp research in Michigan and dispel misconceptions about the product, which is in the same plant family as marijuana but does not include significant levels of the same active drug.

I wonder what types of life the hemp plant would attract.  Butterflies, moths, dragonflies, bees? I could see where large plantings across the state might have a positive effect on the environment.  I also wonder if when grown on a large agricultural level, could it be done without the application of pesticides/insecticides.  Seems like it could be a win for the economy with minimal impact on the environment.

as far as i know the only difference in hemp vrs marijuana is the intended use.
