Are Tobacco Vaporizers Good For Cannabis Oils?

Recommended Posts

I want to purchase something similar to this refillable tobacco juice vaporizer and use it for cannabis oils:

http://www.kangeronline.com

Can refillable tobacco vaporizers be used for cannabis oils?

Do the tobacco juices use a chemical to help it vaporize (sublime), and is the chemical needed for cannabis oils?

When i walked into my local tobacco vaporizer store, they don't advertise anything about cannabis.

The store will let me customize the battery, chamber, coils, and pretty much every part of the refillable vaporizer.

I was thinking about getting an additional chamber, one for tobacco oil and one for cannabis oil.

Please advise...

some vaporizers work better with thicker or thinner oil, but i dont know what is done to cannabis oil to make it thicker or thinner.

maybe boiling less alcohol off of the oil? best ask someone with experience. i know some dispensaries make oil cannisters. theres a lot more of that happening in california i think. so it might be wise to ask around california forums

i know there are vaporizer pens that work with oil and dried bud. so in case you cant get a hold of oil, you can use plain bud.

not sure if those work better or not, or if having two pens , one for oil and one for dried material works better. let us know.

I viewed the 2014 high times online article for best vapes, and i saw a couple that do all three (wax/oil/herbs). It may be overkill for my circumstance.

i already have a tabletop vaporizer for the dried herbs.

I want to use the vape pen, by purchasing two different chambers and switching them out as needed.

grow goddess has some good info on these vaporizer pens. hopefully she'll chime in for ya.

I just got a dab otg, but not sure if that's what you're looking for. It was only 60 bucks, and I don't feel ripped.

the vapor quality is a huge hit. It will also work well for tobacco juice. I did not thin out , but its not a tank either, more like a tiny bowl

 I reviewed it today here.

good luck, peace man!

You ALWAYS want ALL of the alcohol gone. How you thin it depends on the oil. You can winterize before you remove the alcohol(freeze it) then filter it and the plant waxes and lipids will filter out making it thinner. You will not find more oil knowledge in Cali than here. Edited by Restorium2

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a thread count on a vaporizer?

Different threads means different devices that you can attach to it. For example: most e-cigarettes are 510 threads for your tanks, but Persei and Omicron devices have the 601 threads. No biggie though, there are adapters available.

I have a blog here at MMMA describing my experiences with vaproizers and cannabis oil. http://michiganmedicalmarijuana.org/blog/532/entry-1026-my-experience-with-portable-vaporizers-pen-vaporizers-for-concentrated-cannabis-oil-and-e-cigarette-oil/#commentsStart

So far, the AeroTank is the best in my opinion. Soon they will be releasing new versions of the AeroTank, can't wait!!

Like you, I want to be able to vape e-ciggs and conveniently be able to vape concentrated cannabis oil.

The all around best vaporizer in my opinion is the innokin SVD. There are a lot of imitations out there. Go to High Desert Vapes and purchase the SVD kit for $89. It is the real deal SVD.

I consider three vaporizers a must. SVD as the Superior Vaping Device, eGo C Twist Variable Voltage pen batteries (I prefer the smaller 650mAh for stealth and convenience), and I really like the mechanical vape it is much different than the others more of a specialty vaporizer. With the right battery you can operate most vaporizing devices with the mechanical vape. Some vaporizing devices work better with a mechanical vape others work better on an electronic vape. Again, a mechanical vape is more like, well, sport vaping.

The SVD looks and functions great with the AeroTank. You don't have to worry about it leaking. I leave mine standing up. It is fatter than a pen so leaving it standing up is not an issue with the AeroTank.

For e-cannabis oil, I only recommend dual coil clearomizers. I must say with the AeroTank it works really well with e-cigg oils, it is very smooth.

Cannabis oil is thinned out with Propylene Glycol USP medical/food grade. Sometimes it is referred to PG USP Kosher.

Don't let the PG USP scare you and not use it. You are already mass consuming it, at least compared to using it with concentrates. PG USP is used in many food and beverage processing and in many medicines. If you live in North America, and you are on a computer, there is a 99.9% chance you are mass consuming PG USP.

For those whiner-babies that wish to complain about using PG USP, please go complain to where it could do some good. I would highly recommend starting with the FDA. One soda pop has more PG USP in it than what I consume with my concentrates in one week.

Here is a link to where you can purchase some safe PG USP. https://highdesertvapes.com/products/USP-Kosher-Proplyene-Glycol-%28PG%29.html pay no attention to the image, the picture is of a bottle of VG, you do not want to use VG only use PG USP. They used the same picture for VG and PG USP. The product you will be purchasing using the link will be PG USP. This is what is used in e-cigarettes. The purpose of the PG USP in e-cigarettes is to help the VG vaporize at a lower temperature. It helps the flavors in the mixture stay infused. It helps the nicotine penetrate tissue so your body will receive the nicotine. These are all the reason why I only use PG USP with my e-cannabis.

Different concentrates will require different ratios. I have been hearing feedback from people that use shatter. They would add a couple drops of 190 proof grain alcohol to get the shatter to a gooey state. Then add in a 30-50% PG USP with minimal heat, mix well. Usually the oil and PG USP will stay infused for at least a month. I don't recommend leaving it stored in a clearomizer with long wicking for more than a week or two. The oil likes to stick to the wicks. I prefer the dual coil bottom fed units with practically no wicking.

did you ever try vaporizing the alcohol alone gg ?

Well, yes and no.

In regards to just the alcohol, once. Not intentionally.

It was isopropyl, I cleaned my glass vials for my Eclipse vape. I didn't let the vial air out enough. It appeared to be dry, but it was not. I added a small dab of oil to the vial, like I normally would. As soon as the air hit my throat, it just closed. No a nice experience. If there was iso in my RSO, I would know it, especially with my Eclipse.

In regards to grain alcohol, I have tried my oil with just grain alcohol instead of PG USP with the vaporizer. The oil was winterized and I didn't purge out 100% of the grain alcohol on purpose. I only purged the QWISO until it was a very thick tar when cold. I was using the winterized QWISO in my AeroTank. It worked and it was potent, but it was more inconvenient. The tank was plugging up a lot, more difficult to get a hit, but it did work.

I like it best with PG USP added to it at the consistency of a thick oil for the AeroTank.

I would say the all around best vape for the AeroTank is the SVD. The $89 one. Soon KangerTech is coming out with three new versions of the AeroTank. A mini, regular, and extra large. Can't wait to try them out, they look really cool. I just hope their new dual coil system works just as well as the AeroTank.

that stupid dab otg I reviewed a few days ago is turning out to be a dud imo. The coil cups are very sensitive, and not attached to the threaded part, so the cup can wiggle, especially when tightening it to the battery, except by the 2 flimsy wrapped wires, and some wadding(that doesn't burn..) I spent another 45 bucks for a few more cup burners, making this POS cost 95$ so far !

maybe I could redeem the sob with a tank ????

just looked up the dab otg. Nice looking and all. Too bad it does not work for bunny muffin though.

Looks like they put all their $$ into the appearance.

Your complaints about it, I have not encountered those issues with the KISS cart. I am not saying that the KISS cart is worth the $20 price tag. The titanium KISS cart $25 I would recommend more for electronic VV vaporizers. Unless you really know your batteries for a mechanical vape. Except for the fact you can't replace the coil on the KISS (others you can for around $3 (e-ciggs)), they are really actually high quality. You just need the 510 to 601 adapter and you are good to go. You can just use a basic VV eGo C Twist pen battery.

So let's add it up real quick. (KISS cart $20 W9Tech); {eGo C Twist 650mAh VV $20; 510 to 601 adapter $4; USB charger $7 High Desert Vapes};  shipping approximately $12 (shipping from two different suppliers) That comes out to about $63 shipped. Not too bad for a good set up intended for vaping the oil straight. Add $50 more, which comes out to $113 total and you could add a magneto vape with one battery and charger, that is the best rig I have seen for vaping the oil straight in regards to electronic and portable.

For less than $200 my favorite rig is the SVD with the AeroTank with all of the items purchased from High Desert Vapes. I have not seen anything compare yet, but the only difference is you add PG USP to your oil, I like to call it e-cannabis. I purchase the PG USP from HDV too.
