Anybody Have Plants Outdoors Right Now?

i have plants in pots outside on days over 60 fahrenheit and inside otherwise.   a way to lessen the dte bill.  only prob, pot size is necessarily small  (3 gals or less)  for transporting 100 feet out and the same 100 feet back in to warmth.

grasssmatch:   covering with plastic sounds preferable.do you have a frame to throw the plastic over?

I planted those old beaners I found 2 days ago. First I popped one,was amazed that it even sprouted, then decided to plant some of them in with native wild blackberries and bittersweet. Real pickery stuff....hopefully the deer will not be able to get at it. No idea what these seeds are. But they all didn't look the same. Some were big fatties with stripes, some were smaller and a different color. The experiment has begun.........................

Grass, what you just typed there, you can induce flowering outside? Teach me this. Originally my plan was to vegetate one indoors until June (already started it, it's sitting at about 5 inches right now), then switch it to flowering, then transplant it outside.

But if I can grow it outside, leave it outside, and still force flowering, that'd be amazing, I'd get a full outdoor grow in that way.

flower inducing is an easy way to assure a full finish. Your June plan is a good one. veg that plant outside, top it once or twice when around 24 inches to keep it from being a tree, unless that's what you want....this is easier when short and stocky, you'll see. here's the hard part......a garbage can works great. when ready cover the plant with the upturned can for a couple days, remove, and enjoy the bud formation.

The soil doesn't have to be warm, but the leaves must be protected from frost. young plants will grow slower with cooler temps, soil too, but should be fine.  I had frost on the lawn yesterday, plants are fine, soil is wet.

Will this work as long as the plant stays within the fenced area, and I just block all light into that area (the fence will be pretty high itself, it stands around 16ft) with tarps? almost like making a grow tent around my outside enclosure temporarily to induce flowering

It's been a little colder up north here the last couple of days, been raining like a beast too. I reckon I'll wait until maybe mid may to put the little bugger outside.

Also, with the trashcan thing, you keep it covered for the entirety of those couple days? Not like inside where it's 12/12? (Like, you don't take the can off until a couple days later..?)

Don't peak under the can for a couple days. I do this inside sometimes too, to expedite the flowering time. Mostly I just move them into the 12/12 room, and they gradually flower in a timely manner, some older lines will (pre) flower in the 24 hour veg room even. You can save a week or two this way indoors, but outdoors it can mean the difference between an awesome tree that just never finished like it should have, or one that is a prize. google sun rise and set times and you'll see exactly what day to do it. don't be scared of 13 or even 14 our lighted days after you induce. you want to have at least 70 solid warm days to finish. I've gone right into snow before, but that is risky and sucks really. Finish in September/October for best results, just like the outdoor trees. If you induce too soon the plant will just continue vegging, or veg some extra while flowering. between june 15th and july 15th is my target most years, and forgiving too. don't bother with a pure sativa this way.

If I had another patient I'd have autoflowers out in the day and in at nite.  Or I'd cover the 4x4x8 long cage with plastic at nite.  I may eventually do full season plants outside but I like the idea of having projects that go from start to finish in 8-10 weeks.  This way you can do a bucket a week, they sex by 14 days and you can leave the best female and get an extra ounce a week without cost.  Can't wait to test some to find the CBD and other cannabinoid content.

extra ounce?

Yep, When it's colder they produce about an ounce a plant.  The middle of summer(plants put out 4 weeks before the solstice) they avg. a little more. On a perpetual garden you can put in one a week and take out one a week.  Since I only have 2 patients at the moment I don't need the extra ounce a week. My indoor garden is already set up for the 3 of us.  But as soon as I find patients 3,4 and 5 I'll start putting them out.

I haven't found an "auto" that my patients would approve of. I like some of the joint doctors gear, but the rest I've sampled,  I totally agree with them.

I suspect its this funny business cbd ratio in hemp rope varieties. The hybridization with our favored cultivars was pure genius though,

and I wont stop looking for the diamonds. Some of those are real nice looking plants that give up "enough" to please me, especially outdoors, where the cost is near zero to support.

what's your fav's Norby ?

Mine are out in the "locked secure greenhouse". As for just sticking a plant outside unprotected from frost now I wouldn't do it. The ground temp is 7 degrees lower this year than it was last year at this time. That does make a difference when it gets cold enough to frost, the ground releases warmth at night which helps prevent frost damage.

If it were me Id wait a couple of weeks. I wont put my tomatoes out yet and Id guess that your pot plants are just as valuable as my tomatoes :thumbsu:
