Confused About Dispensaries

Hi,

 

I'm new to medical marijuana (currently waiting for my card), and am seeking clarification on the legal status of dispensaries operating in Michigan.

 

I was under the impression that all MI dispensaries were forced to shut down under the threat of prosecution (as "public nuisances") some time ago.

 

However, I was driving through Mesick recently and came across what appeared to be a dispensary operating in plain sight (marijuana leaf on the sign and everything).

 

How are they able to operate openly when so many others have closed? Is this type of dispensary safe for a patient to use?

They have more dollars then sense is the short answer!  they are ilegal, there are bills stuck in the senate that could make dispensarys legal, but I beleive they are just trying to bury it for as long as they can, by the time MI catches up to the norm. we will be so far behind other states it wont even be funny!

 

My advise is to get a c.g and dont make a dispense your c.g It is ilegal! either grow your own or get a good c.g, if you are only a pt you can get it from any where, I wouldnt want to give a dispense my info, becuase if/when they get popped I dont want my name in their registry!

Cities really have no power to make a dispensary legal. Dispensaries operate because it is hard for law enforcement to prove that they are not just a place where legal caregivers are servicing their 5 patients connected by cards. Imagine how hard that is to prove otherwise when no one buying or selling is wanting to cooperate with law enforcement. All it takes is one disgruntled customer, willing to work with law enforcement, and the dispensary is toast.

Its real simple...they are taking a calculated RISK.  Nothing more nothing less.  At any given point in time they are sitting ducks being stuck in a retail position.  If they tinkle off cops and the cops need an arrest, over time or money they will just do a point less snatch n grab and claim another victory in the war on drugs.  But in fact we all know they will never win any war on any drug.  But hey they need to meet the monthly, yearly status to keep federal funds coming in.  So they all are sitting ducks.

yes they are, but like rest says all it takes is 1 disgruntled person and the doors come crashing down, basicaly that is all any of us c.g's or pt growers need is one idiot jealious of what you have and the whole towns knows about you, and when that happens leo knows also!

 

Im not against them, I would like to see them legal, but only if I get to keep my grow rights!

I can certainly see how the large numbers of dispensaries lead some folks to believe that they are legal.  Dispensaries are a lot like crack or other drug houses.  You can talk to people in any inner-city neighborhood, and many local residents know exactly where these places operate.  Instead of a green leaf or cross symbol, you see a run-down house with a slot in the front door.  Yet some of these drug houses operate for a very long time.  Some never get busted.

 

I once was working at a job in Saginaw.  The owner of the property pointed to a house across the street and said that the owner/occupant had been busted from growing weed in his attic three times and was still selling drugs.  I was skeptical and  thought he was just a grumpy old man, although I did see an unusual number of visitors pop in for a few minutes.  Then I actually saw two college-age girls pull up.  One jumped out of the car and went inside and came back out carrying a baggie of what appeared to be MJ - holding it in plain site a she ran back to the car.

 

Dispensaries, crack houses, prostitutes...all examples of illegal activities that are hard to stop, even when conducted in plain sight.  Some are tolerated more, and for longer, than others.

I have a good friend a retired lawyer and his wife just got a card and he was talking to a Garden City officer and the officer stated there are three dispensary operating in G.C.   Dispensary's are not on the main roads and are not hurting anyone so they leave them alone.  The city has not authorized and or licensed any dispensary's yet the still manage to operate.  I bet that same officers would nail my donkey if i left a joint in my ash tray or didn't have my meds in a container out of reach i am not hurting anyone leave us all alone.  I bet the a family member or someone politcically connected has an interest in those GC dispensary's.

It looks like you missed the point. There was nothing to suggest any judgement of patrons of crack houses, prostitutes, or dispensaries. Point was that it it hard for LEO to bust the providers of these more or less victimless crimes. The overall point was that the existence of such businesses doesn't mean they are legal. In flint we have dispensaries on more than a few corners and prostitutes on even more corners. Just because such businesses haven't been busted doesn't mean they are legal.

I'm sure all the people that have visited a dispensary would really care if YOU think they are scum. Besides,a pt can get their meds from anywhere. Maybe they don't have 300.00 a month to spare.Ever think about that? For having only 2 posts,you sure are pushy,calling people names. You have to be a pt just to walk in the door. Dispensaries are clearly not covered in the current MMMA so yeah, there is a calculated risk in patronizing them. But I doubt that the Detroit police department care (LOTS of dispensaries in Detroit) considering how short handed they are and being in a high crime city, AND considering the decriminalization law passed there. Probably also safe to use dispensaries in Ann Arbor, with it's pot friendly attitude. I'd be very wary about one in Oakland county.

 

Had a great caregiver but with the relatively small quantity of cannabis that I use it just wasn't fair to use up one of their patient spots. So I've since relied on dispensaries after checking out reviews on weedmaps. Have been very pleased with quality, selection, convenience and price, as well as the friendly people working there. Will continue to patronize dispensaries...

The reviews about the dispensaries are all BS .  they make up reviews about themselves.  Helping hands is notorious about this and the Fake MOTOWN MEDS lies and does fake reviews. Fake Motown meds has  NO Website because I am launching my own site because I am the legal holder holder of the domain name for www.motownmeds.com. Trust me fake motown meds makes up their own reviews.  They are super scanty. 

 

 

When you post a bad review on wedmaps the try and get you booted from a site admin.  LOL.  Reviews are a joke.  I would say 1 out of 25 are even real.  Do you really think people enjoy paying 20-25 a gram for poop..?  I know when I went to Colorado i was VERY dissapointed with all 4 dispensaries I went to.  I would say that pretty much in MI most dispensaries still are engaging in that shipping biz and or buying in bulk from unknown sources.  Illegal grow ops and or Commercial Hydro CHEMICAL/soil ops.

 

 

AND THEY ALL LIE ABOUT HOW IT IS GROWN....EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM,...LOL..HOW DO I KNOW...LOL...I KNOW A FEW OF THE OWNERS....THEY LIE...LIE...LIE. 

 

OHH ...AND A WORD OF THE WISE,..THE THC% ARE PURE BULL SHIIYAAT.  LET'S JUST SAY I KNOW A DISPENSARY OFF SAY DEQUINDRE...AROUND 9 MILE.....AND THEY SAY THEY TEST THEIR PRODUCT BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT THE LAB COMPANY IS NOT TESTING EVERY SINGLE BATCH LIKE THEY CLAIM...LOL...

 

IT IS WHAT IT IS. ..THEY MAY TEST LIKE 1 OUT OF EVERY 10-20 BATCHES.  OR TEST 1 BATCH AND RUN WITH IT.  HAHAHA.  But either way it is always best to hook up with credible people for supply and stay as far away from retail outlets until a law gets passed because cops will still sit from a far and run INTEL.  Runlicense plates, snatch n grabs.  Hit the stores and try and steal CG records then watch the CG's transport or get the grow locations.  Not so much in Wayne county but 100% sure in OAKLAND county.  You bet your arse those cops in NET in Oakland are dirty.  And will lie just like big bouchard does.  They all have their own hidden agendas.  oakland County still gets FED money for NARC DRUG units so they naturally will lie, cheat and do whatever to preserve their own way of life.  THe scanty way of life that is.
