Question: What happens to my application and health information once it is received at the MMP?

Answer: All information received at the MMP is protected under the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act Initiated Law 1 of 2008 and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA) and cannot be released without a court order or release from the patient and caregiver.

Medical marijuana patient and caregiver cards also are protected by the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon said.

can anyone dispute this claim?

the only possible dispute is the conflict that exists with this one word..  - federal

its as if we are reliving the "A = Any patient" thing...

I can tell you that the department is very strict about releasing records, and they require a document signed by the patient or caregiver, and notarized, and a copy of the driver license. The documents are delivered with all personally identifying information of any person that has NOT signed a release redacted.

except for the okemos seven, right?

it was a medical release of information to determin if i have any medical conditions that could disqualify me. i havent used in a loooong time and honestly forgot about it when i applied to the post office

Sometimes these medical releases ask who your doctor is and they want to see your charts from your doctors. If you wrote down any doctor that you have told about medical marijuana there is a chance they will see that on the chart notes. If you didn't mention any doctor that you told about your medical marijuana then you have nothing to be concerned about.
