Moral High Ground

Recommended Posts

The medical cannabis movement has won several battles lately but the resistance movement is still very strong and is going to fight for a long time I fear.  I have posted elsewhere that I felt money is behind many of these fights.  I still feel that way, pretty strongly that way as a matter of fact.  'Follow the money' is the golden rule of investigation.

Another key factor that is becoming more apparent to me is that these long time cannabis opponents have always felt that they were upholding decency by opposing cannabis.  They were the good and the moral people fighting against the evil, the decadence, and the immoral behavior.  To give up the drug war now means to many, giving in to the moral decay and quitting on the future of our kids and grandkids.

To now just accept cannabis use means that they are not any better than those ... those.....those druggies that they have looked down on for years!  They would have to admit that, at least with respect to cannabis users, they are not morally superior.  They may even have to admit that, when all of the facts are known, perhaps they have battled on the wrong side.  Many are incapable of making that transition.

Sad but true. "They", with government complicity, have successfully demonized a plant that should have never received the bad publicity and hatred that this plant has received. It took years for them tarnish marijuana's image and it may take just as many more to scrub the tarnish off.
