House Bill Blocks Dea From Medical Marijuana!

Washington, D.C. -- Reflecting growing national acceptance of cannabis, a bipartisan coalition of House members voted early Friday to restrict the Drug Enforcement Administration from using funds to go after medical marijuana operations that are legal under state laws.

 

An appropriations amendment offered by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) prohibiting the DEA from spending funds to arrest state-licensed medical marijuana patients and providers passed 219-189. The Senate will likely consider its own appropriations bill for the DEA, and the House amendment would have to survive a joint conference before it could go into effect.

I seriously doubt the Democratic led Senate will fail to pass a pro-mmj bill passed by the Republican House.

 

What is truly amazing is Speaker Boehner and the Republican leadership even let this bill go to a vote.

 

But they did; something Pelosi and the Democrats wouldn't do when they had control of both houses.

 

While more Democrats voted for the bill than Republicans, the fact remains without support of the Speaker and more than a few Republicans this truly important step would never have taken place.

Push has come to shove. Public approval of cannabis has reached critical mass, and there is no stopping it now. Schuette and Jones will come along kicking and screaming and spitting, but they will come.

It's "the war on drug users and people trying to supply those drugs"  They slip it past you by calling it a war on drugs.  Everyones on board for that.  Yaya let's have a war on drugs.  Then they don't tell you it's only certain drugs they are after and if your a big corp you can still deal drugs and say they aren't addictive because they are timed release and create one of the biggest addiction trends in history.  They also aren't at war against caffiene, nicotine, alcohol or any other drug that changes your state of mind and are actually toxic.  If we don't change the brand name people will never think of it differently.

The state wont get penalized for giving out licenses and the such.

 

I mean, did people really think 49 republicans(21%) would vote to protect a medical marijuana patient?  heh.

 

 But it is still awesome and the first click in the right direction on the federal legislative level,..IMO.
