Yeah, But Is It Real Pain Medicine?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering the thoughts here.  I keep hearing this statement from the anti's:

"Cannabis just gets you stoned and then you forget that you were in pain.  It isn't like real pain medicine"

It seems like the "if it is not a pill, it can't be any good" mentality but is there something more that I am missing?

It absolutely does help with the pain............ Does it take all of everyones pain away? Probably not....... Does it take all of some peoples pains away? Yes............... Does it take none of SOME PEOPLES pain away? Probably .............. Does it take some of some peoples pain away? Yes..................

Now the real kicker and answer to those anti's ................ Does it take peoples mind off the pain and serve as a great PAIN MANAGEMENT TOOL? YES IT DOES................. The medical field has learned alot about how to manage pain and not all of it involves pills and not all of it involves pills taken after the pain is there....................... PAIN MANAGEMENT is the best way to fight the pain.................. With MJ and without................ Whatever helps manage the pain......... Lest us remember that there was a day and age when taking pain pills etc BEFORE you had the pain was a no no........... Now they have learned that if you do things before the pain will go along way in helping in managing and preventing said pain............

i think you should have a discussion with the anti-pot people and find out exactly what their problem is.

just listen, dont refute anything , try to find the real motivation.

a lot of these talking points are just that, talking points. thought up 40 years ago with no rhyme nor reason.

ask them if they've ever smoked or talked to someone who smoked.

ask them if they've ever used pain medications.

aspirin doesnt work for everyone

tylenol doesnt work for everyone

ibuprofen? etc.

the interesting thing is that theres multiple talking points from multiple sources.

and they've all mixed together. so if you attack one point, theres a ton of other points that get interjected.

example of a discussion:

-pot makes you lazy

-thats just not true, many successful, active, creative smart people have used pot to increase productivity

-yeah but it kills brain cells

-again , not true, studies have shown it actually protects brain cells

-you just want to get stoned

its running around the real problem they have with marijuana.

you can refute every single talking point with evidence, printed research, all that. and yet they are still anti.

find out the real reason!

i'm guessing its something to do with hating hippies or not wanting to think nancy reagan and nixon and teachers and DARE lied to them about marijuana and drugs.

obama said marijuana was the same as alcohol. thats a huge dose of reality.

we should put that on billboards, commercials, tshirts, paper towels, everything. EVERYTHING.

"As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life,'' he said in a magazine interview. "I don't think it is more dangerous than alcohol."

"you should have a discussion with the anti-pot people"

I did one day in line at Menards. It was last Christmas and the line was long. Somehow medical marijuana came up. Must have been someone's 'one liner'. And then the older couple in front of me started griping about medical. They said that medical marijuana growers were just a bunch or uneducated losers that are scamming the system to make huge amounts of money they waste buying big TVs. Seriously, that's what they thought. I did my best to turn that interpretation around. Saying I had a friend that was a medical marijuana caregiver. Told them it was a lot of work and it was great that he helped sick people with their ailments. I think I changed their thinking a little bit. They are bound to revert though. Might be a lot of folks like that out there. The dispensaries ruined things in my area with their constant hammering of really dumb sounding radio advertisements. And the shady gready scammers hawking medical in my area are thick. I think we were better off in the very beginning before the exhibitionists and the scammers became the highest profile part of medical marijuana. All the caregivers and patients that follow the law never get noticed. It's the bad apples that are doing our public relations for us. That's why the politicians can still swing votes bashing us.

Some local quasi medical marijuana dispensary had ads on the radio running for a long time that said, "If you want to be treated like a person, not a patient, then come on down to ......" That sounds shady to a lot of folks. Money is tight these days. Everyone is looking for a scammer to ram on and say they are what's wrong with America. Busting moves is not in style.

I really don't think that there are many people that hate marijuana given away to patients that use it to treat symptoms. What they hate is the fact that they know that no one can afford to give it away without busting some kind of moves to make it so they can afford it. Most folks are fairly street smart like that.
