Family Pet Passed Today

Recommended Posts

She drew her final breath at 10 am this morning and passed from old age. She's a Toy Fox Terrier and turned 17 years this past June. The average lifespan for the breed is from 12 to 15 years. The past month has been a little hard on her, but she was still enjoying her food and wagging her tail. She refused food and water yesterday.  She had a good life and brought much joy. She will be joining her other pet family members in the pet cemetery at the back of the property today.  RIP

Cheaps,so sorry. Our dogs mean so much to us. If you decide later on to help a Rescue,I have contacts with Fox Terrier Rescue, too. When Pixie our old  JRT blind and deaf rescue died,we were happy that we gave her 2 wonderful years of life with us and the other goofballs. I don't think I could live life without dogs. :(

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thanks, guys.

My first Yellow Lab, Buddy passed at 11 with health problems. He used to go with me to conduct security patrols on the base at night. It seemed he knew that we were going on a mission when I put on my cammies and acted very much the professional security dog when we went.  But he was at his best when we played frisbee.

My second Yellow Lab, Buddy, is at my feet at the moment.  He was a rescue 6 years ago.  A witness saw someone toss him out of a truck in an empty lot nearby.  He was 6 months old at the time.  I was blessed with his arrival.

I'll have quite the following at the Rainbow Bridge by the time I get there.  Two Labs, a Toy Fox Terrier, a Miniature Pinscher, and a bunch of cats, but the two sister cats, Chevy and Drag, will be leading the cat pack.   :)

Thanks for comments, all.  I hope the best for your guy today, SlowJustice.

Hydro, what a pleasant surprise that you knew the Rainbow Bridge story. You menfolk loves yer dawgs too. Watch my Hubs cry like a baby each time one goes. He cries while he digs the hole,I leave him be because that is how he deals with it. We buried our old mutt dog Butchie on the Suburban seat she loved to sleep on. Vet was crying, backhoe guy was crying, but she left this world in her own yard, under her favorite old tree. Now I got the leaky eyes,too........................................

5 years ago my Jack Russel/Cairn Terrier developed cancerous tumors in multiple lymph nodes. We immediately got a J R pup for her to focus on, and began an extract regimen, internal and external. Today she chooses to dose or not to dose on her own, and its offered freely to her. she voluntarily goes for it about 3 times a week, and prefers an olive oil infusion to sip. she has a gram a quarter habit, and she is thriving. Still old, still has tumors, none got larger, some shrunk to nothing, and she still smiles, kills opossum, plays with cats, and rules the farm yard. Not sure what gave her a spark, don't much care either, just glad to have the pleasure of her company for 5 more years. my other 5 yr old J R cannot tolerate any amount of extract. she does enjoy fresh trim, dried buds though with no apparent effect.

dabtime,pssst
