How Do I Legally Sample Meds Without A Caregiver?

Recommended Posts

A patient can sample meds all day long legally. They can buy meds anywhere they want to (in Michigan) legally. The sellers are not always covered. Nothing new for them though. Protect your source.

Thanks but how can you buy something legally that is illegal to sell? This is so screwed up. What are the cases where it is legal/illegal to sell( donate, whatever.)?

How can this law mean anything? Having to commit to a caregiver before trying anything is like legally committing to a single grocery store before ever trying the food and prices and not being able to try anything else until you do the paperwork to change it.

Relax. It's easy. Just find some good medical cannabis and buy it.

The only solidly legal way to sell is if you are selling to a patient that's name is on your caregiver card. People have been selling cannabis forever. Now you can buy it legally. Enjoy your new found freedom.

We found a way and codified it into the law. How cool is that? It remains to bring it into the open to permit liberal sale to another individual, and things are moving toward that. The law was written to avoid the best arguments against use. It has been argued by those who wrote the law that to permit sales too liberally would have been a threat to its passage. leaving us to dwell in the dark days before any cannabis use was permitted.

You can name anyone who meets the qualifications of a caregiver under the law as your caregiver at any time and for any length of time, without them being registered with the state as your caregiver, as long as that person is comfortable with the added risk that involves some nastiness in terms of arrest and due process but does not permit conviction in court. That person must be a person who is at least 21 years old and who has agreed to assist with a patient's medical use of marihuana and who has not been convicted of any felony within the past 10 years and has never been convicted of a felony involving illegal drugs or a felony that is an assaultive crime as defined in section 9a of chapter X of the code of criminal procedure, 1927 PA 175, MCL 770.9a. A private written agreement between the two of you, wherein you provide proof of a bona fide patient/doctor relationship wherein your doctor has documented that you are likely to receive benefit from cannabis is the best, and arguably smartest way to go until and unless you designate a caregiver via the state registry.

In any event you as a patient are protected.

So this is how it must work, that when I find a potential provider, I sign my name in blood attesting that my card is valid, having been issued by the state after application and physician attestation review. Then the provider STILL risks the inconvenience and expense of arrest (and probably forfeiture) but NOT the risk of conviction?

Really?

I admit I like having the card, but right now it ain't doing me much good.

trap?  nah. you have no commitment to a caregiver, except as you name it. You can sign one up, sample his gear, and remove him the same day from your registry. no trap there. being a caregiver may be another story.

How do I add and remove the caregiver from my registry the same day? Does that mean mean send 2 separate forms to LARA?

if you must.  but if you treat your interview process with diligence and pay attention to your gut feelings, you may just find your first caregiver will be your last.

its really not that risky at all man.  driving around with expired plates, selling to more than ones own five patients, growing in a non secured area, lack of common sense, and lack of common sense...... helps to bring the law to your door. in fact, ask most of the troubled how the police came to know them......you'll see for yourself.

follow the rules, don't tell anyone but LARA, and most of all don't tell anyone about your status, or even tell anyone about your status, even. I promise nobody will hassle you when you follow the rules, and mix in some common sense, like don't tell.
