Counties To Grow In

I would say that Oakland county and St. Clair county (not as much as Oakland) are two of the more hostile environments. Washtenaw County, Genessee, Ingham, and Kent are some of the more friendly places in my experience, though I have not operated as a CG in any of those places.

Use caution. Wild Bill is spot on in that it really boils down to whimsical discretion of local police and prosecutors.

Are there any counties in Michigan that restrict growing? I know in California that you can not grow in places such as Napa Valley. Are there any restrictions in Michigan like this?

no. our law prevents local restrictions. you can look at terbeek v wyoming case if you want more info.

I completely agree with WarriorScholar. I'm an unfortunate resident of Oakland County and the police still are more interested in catching individuals consuming marijuana than the other hard drugs flowing through the area. I've had a few registered card-holding acquaintances who also live in the same county who have literally had police-contact due to the smell. There have also been many stories of medical patients getting in trouble because they were consuming with non-registered persons and got charged with supplying to those individuals. There is also a dispensary that was raided and closed before the latest elections...there is an article about it online.

I've known growers in Macomb County and Wayne County that seem to do alright. I've heard horror stories on Oakland, a fellow grower had called the police based on an intrusion and instead of handling the matter at hand, they realized the home held a growing operation and when they could not shut them down, they tacked him with a few thousand dollars to bring the home up to code (cooling system, electric, etc) Do your research and talk to anyone willing to talk about their own personal experience.

As far as I know, there are no local restrictions. But be careful and follow the rules just as the posters above said.
