Tonight- The news of a young, unarmed, black man shot to death by a white officer in Ferguson, Missouri, and the ensuing protests by the community and the reaction of various law enforcement agencies, has dominated national news, as of late. How does the situation in Ferguson relate to "The War On Drugs" and what kind of reform measures may be needed to avoid similar situations in the future?

 

Continuing our discussion on the dangers of medical marijuana hotel mill certifications, we will check in with operators of traditional clinics where recommendations are offered in the Ann Arbor and Traverse City areas.

 

Joining us tonight will be former police officer and member of LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition) Diane Wattles Goldstein who as also written extensively on the issue of prohibition for several major media sources including Ladybud Magazine.

 

Attorney Jeff Frazier now residing in Michigan, was one of the ACLU lawyers working on the infamous Tulia case in Texas, in which a drug task force was dismantled for excessive overreach of power and duty.

 

Charmie Gholson founder of Michigan Moms United and outspoken critic of the drug war.

 

Also calling in tonight will be Adam DeVaney MSW, assistant clinical director at Chronic, LLC, Certification and Pain Management Center in Traverse City. Adam has been involved in the marijuana policy reform movement for 13 years, and is currently working on local zoning issues as well as speaking around the state on the bonified doctor/patient relationship in regards to medical marijuana certifications.

 

And Roman Moya, healthcare and cannabis entrepreneur, currently a member of First Natural Wellness, and who serves on the board of Nuit Health, a michigan non profit health center specializing in alternative pain management and integrative medicine.
