Schauer Statement On Hb 4271 And 5104

As I’ve traveled across the state and talked with patients, medical professionals and local community leaders, it is clear that the state needs to clarify Michigan’s Medical Marijuana Act to ensure safe access to medical marijuana for registered patients and caregivers.  Currently, communities are in limbo as to the legal parameters of provisioning centers. This has caused inconsistent law enforcement and limited safe access for medications, especially non-smokeable forms of medical marijuana.

Two bills are currently pending in the Michigan Senate that take a commonsense approach to address these challenges: HB 4271 and HB 5104. These bills would give local communities the option of whether they wish to license and regulate local provisioning centers, while respecting the values of the individual community. Additionally, this legislation would ensure people suffering from chronic and serious debilitating conditions and diseases have access to non-smokeable forms of medical marijuana to increase their quality of life. I fully support these bills and encourage both the Michigan Senate and the Governor to take action and make these two bills law as soon as possible.

I don't see anything too bad in there. Looks like he likes to spend money on military and he's pretty anti gay which I don't think is fair but it doesn't affect me.

He seems to be less dangerous than the prohibitionists we have in there now.

I'll probably vote for him. I'll vote Libertarian on everything else.

Here's a link to his voting record.

your straight libertarian vote is worse than not voting, you should pick the better of the 2 evils, your vote will be waisted voting on the libertairian ticket, I hate to tell people who to vote for and I dont like being told, I do know I waisted alot of votes voting non dem or repub an voting for the underdog, you realy should just not vote if that is what you will do!

Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news, go look now for how many libertarians or non  2 party people who have won, one I can think of is mc.cain when he didnt win his primary. it didnt change how he thinks though!

read up more or stay home on voting day, dont waiste your vote!

Peace

Considering the fact that regardess of which of the two parties you vote for you will be dissatisfied, I would say vote your conscience. Had everyone always done that we wouldn't be in this predicament. Often times these two parties are actually relatives. Stick one in so you vote for the other. we shouldn't be fools with this scheme, but to know our future we need to know our past. I wasn't always a two party scam, and we were warned of these follies. Voting the lesser of two evils affords no legitimate

cause for change when it doesn't work out, and it won't. pure insanity to put them in only to figure a way to get them out. imo.

not a hater for the "lesser of two evils" and admit I did this for a lifetime. you can thank me for pretty much every political sham in the last few decades because of it. sorry. There is no wasted vote, we all get to se the forward momentum of the underdog, and inspire others to do the right thing also. If we're slighting even ourselves with our elected officials, its no wonder we never get what makes sense. They know the score, and are betting on the fact that most will vote for the lesser of two evils. We're putting those puppets in power and crying that we don't get what we want=insanity.

Eventually people will come around.  If we keep telling people we vote libertarian, some people may look into it and see that those people best represent their view, they just didn't realize because the dem and rep run the show.  It'll change, eventually people will wake up.

And it doesn't matter if they win.  It just matters when they receive enough votes for the winner to take notice. These people don't want to loose their jobs.  Americans are extremists, they got to one end or the other(dem, rep). what we need is a little middle ground.  Fiscal conservatism and social liberalism.  If the politicians fear loosing to a third party they will change.  Right now they all have a 50/50 chance.  Time to scare them a bit.  We don't want one party in power we want them to listen to the people.

If half the people that said that voted Libertarian they'd win in a landslide. But in this case I think the imperative is to get the Republicans out of office no matter what. They seem to be anti human being.

I'd hardly call those two parties extreme opposites. More like two sides to the same coin.

I guess I was refering to the divide and conquer technique.  Use issues that shouldn't be issues(gay marraige, drug legalization, right to defend yourself, etc.) to keep everyone in chains.   They are the same but they divide over "controlling other people's lives" issues.

Not one of my close friends or family voted in the primaries.

I provide information, stress the importance of 1st. getting

our desired candidates ON the ballot, get ppl registered,

provide rides (mostly ends up being only for prez elections sadly),

and w/e I am able to do to prompt ppl getting to the polls.

Apparently I need new friends.

I was a 'lesser of 2 evils' voter also.

Now I vote my conscience.  People died for my right to do so.

I am the one that has to live with my choices and I sleep well.

and... I still have issue w/ Mr. Schauers' statement, although I can't

articulate my reason/s.  Just a gut feeling I suppose, we shall see.
