Rescued Akita Needs Home

Hello everyone. Havent been on in awhile. I am looking for a home for a dog i rescued.

I found this dog after she had been attacked by another dog. her injury was very bad.

Her injury concisted of multiple bite holes to the face and back of her neck. Her throat

was literally ripped deep into the muscle with no way to stitch it back together. I took

her to the vet on labor day. The vet said it would be best to put her down. Or i could keep

her clean, new bandages regularly, and lots of anti biotics. I chose to try and save her.

I succeeded in getting her healthy again and started the process of finding her a home.

I cant keep her myself:-( I have 3 pit bulls of my own and they refuse to get along. About

a week ago human error let her and my female pit get into the same room of my house.

Needless to say i had a Pit bull and an Akita fighting to the death in my living room. I dove on top

of them and eventually after several bites to my hands i pried them apart. Very scary sutuation!!

I am ok but I have to find this girl a home before either she or one of my dogs get killed.Or myself!!

This is why i come here.

I am looking for a man with no young kids or other pets that is looking for a beautiful full blooded

American Akita. She is a very loyal loveable sweet girl about 3 y/o. she is very well behaved and walks on the leash exellently. She dont get along with other animals except my male pit bull. For some reason they get along well. She is very protective of her owner and her property. Whoever gets her has to know about The American Akita breed. They have to know how dominant these dogs can be. They are a one person dog

and need a master that can be more dominate than them. I have love for this dog so im not gonna give her to just anybody. Im going to have to meet and approve of her new owner. Ill be dammed if i save her life just to give her to someone who wont love her the way i do. So please research these dogs and know the breed before you decide to take her. I cant upload pics on here but if you message me on here with a phone number I can text some pics to your phone.

Ok thanks everybody and have a good day

very scary and i dont want to live that again.

I grew up in the midst of large dog fights all planned and gambled with. The neighborhood was involved, and I was the only minority on the block, so didnt have friends really. Dogs were used to fight in place of people where I came from. I cry when I see a dog get angry with another. I've taken dog lives in defense of myself and my own pet and applaud you at your discipline in handling the fight the way you did. I see images of how grossly dangerous a fighting dog's bites are, and would never take one second chancing the grip on me or mine. I live with facial scars from my first attack, and see that dog throat each time I hear a dog growl in anger even today. I have zero tolerance, and you not only saved a dog or two lives, but now finding it a responsible home. I don even know you, but I like you already!

peace

Thanks ozzrock. I appreciate the bump. I hate to have to get rid of her.

She loves me so much she wags from her head to her tail everytime

she sees me. And i love her so much that i cant just drop her off at

the pound. I will find her a home. If she could get along with

my dogs i wouldnt hesitate to keep her. Shes an awsome girl and it

makes me sad to give her away. But i know its best for her.

I contacted an Akita rescue out of colorado.Just waiting to hear back

from them. Hopefully they will help.

Thanks

Wozerdozer it is great to see you post again.

How very noble of you to save that precious girl's life!

Do you know what kind of dog it was that nearly put her to her death?  Akita's are pretty tough.

Do you know about how much she weighs?  Does she have the beautiful American Akita black face? Their eyes are so awesome! The Japanese Akita is about 30% smaller than the American Akita. Also, there is the wooly Akita which is more friendly.

Are both of her ears up? Does she have that awesome Akita curled tail?

After my Alaskan Malamute died, a wooly Alaskan Malamute, I decided to get an American Akita. We chose to get a male. He is an awesome guard dog, and very loyal and protective of my family and property. My Akita does not like strangers. My malamute was more than happy to welcome most all strangers!

My Akita does great with the family, but I was forewarned by the breeder that they don't do well with other pets and typically will want to "get rid of them". However, they are known to get along with other dogs of the opposite sex.

2 Akita's can bring down a black bear if necessary.

Too bad you can't get a picture of her on the forums. I will try sharing this thread on my FB account see if there is any interest.

I am sure somebody out there would love to take her in. Last I saw they were going for $2,500 and up.

After watching the movie Hachi, it helped me come to the decision to get an Akita.

Strange, I liked the thread for FB at the bottom. It did not share to my FB.

I went to make sure my FB is connected to my MMMA profile and I clicked on it to connect and I get an error message stating the option has been disabled. I checked the Twitter connect, and it will allow me to connect to that account. I don't have much activity on Twitter, so no reason to post it there.

I will have to copy and past the link to this thread on my FB instead.

Any ideas as to why I cannot connect to my FB account?

Hello Growgoddess it is nice to see you again too. I am not sure of what kind of dog attacked her.

And yes from the looks of her wounds she is a very tough dog. She was 87 pounds when I first

took her to the vet. The second time I took her to the vet she weighed 77. but she's eating well now

so she should be up to weight again. Yes she has a very beautiful black face and both of her ears

stand straight up. her tail does curl over her back and wags back and forth when she's happy.

She likes to lay on her belly with her legs streched behind her with her tail curled over her back

wagging from side to side. When she is standing and i reach under her to rub her belly she cocks

her leg like a male dog ready to pee. Its pretty cute. She is a bit scarred up rite now. And she has

been shaved around all her wounds. Which her hair is slowly growing back. Other than that she is

a very beautiful animal. She will make someone a very happy dog owner. As for pics I am on my phone

and it wont let me upload pics. I can email them or text them to somebody so they can post them here

if anybody would like.

Thanks

Wozer,I have worked with Jack Russell Rescue for about 15 years now. I will put the word out. So,no other pets,no kids, and you think a man is a better choice for her? You can contact Richland Animal Rescue in Richland, around Kzoo. They take the bigger more aggressive dogs like pitties. Julie Baker runs the rescue. You can find it on FB and get to her. Maybe she can help.
