Switching Certification Doctors

Recommended Posts

I got my green card certification from a doctor about 70-80 miles from me, without realizing that the follow-up visits would be with the same doctor.  There are certifying doctors about 20 miles away- can I do follow-up visits with someone closer?  Am I really stuck driving that far two more times before I renew my certification in 2 years? thanks

Welcome :yahoo-wave:

I don't know the answer to your question.  Someone who does will chime in soon I hope.

What exactly is this 'green card' you speak of?  Thanks.

The doctor writes you a recommendation to use medical marihuana for your qualifying condition/s.

The State then will Certify you as a patient if all paper work is correctly filed and your fee paid.

It would seem that by "green card" he means his patient card, which has a green band across the top - as opposed to a CG card, which has a blue band.

patient card is blue on the top. at least my expired card is blue. pretty sure new card is blue too.

as for follow up, the law as written seems to imply the one who recommended mj be the one to follow up with you.

so if you want to switch drs, just go with the closer dr and he will give you another recommendation. then follow up with him/her.

you can do this now, and its a good idea to do it sooner rather than later. yes, probably another $100-$200 down the drain but you want to be legal right?
