Requirements For Those Just Having Moved To Mi...

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I live in a bordering state to MI. I'm planning on moving to Michigan next summer and had a few questions.

As long as I establish a residence and then receive my MI license am I OK to meet the residency requirement? I've seen nothing in the law saying you must have residency for a certain period of time, however I wasn't sure if Michigan residency was dependent upon time lived in the state.

Also I plan to become a caregiver, as me and my wife love to help people whenever possible. If I receive my card I assume becoming a caregiver follows the same requirements? Thanks guys and sorry if it's been asked but I haven't found the exact answer anywhere.

Glad to be on these forums with you guys!

yep, getting a drivers license should indicate residency, i thinktheres a FAQ on residency in the state of michigan.http://mi.gov/som/0,4669,7-192--86428--,00.htmlbetter consult that for more info.note that being a caregiver to 5 patients will not be very profitable.and hoping for HB4271 is not advised.

Luckily not getting into it for the money, I have a good job that I'll be able to commute to. Will be around southwest MI, not even sure how many patients are down there anyway but I guess that may be a silky thought..just not as populated as some of the bigger areas of MI.

My wife has a rod in her arm that has left her in constant pain. I was counting on her possibly getting a caregiver status for 5 more patients as well since she will likely be getting her personal card anyway.

Thanks for the advice T, it's really helpful!

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with Oakland county? :)

And look at the cg requirements. Can't have had a criminal felony drug conviction. And I think they added assault crimes to that list didn't they? I don't remember but you can look it up or I'm sure someone will chime in here.

I thought it was possibly just any felony but in any case I'm lucky to be felony free. Really just the residency that has me nervous and finding a good doc in SW MI ;)

Thanks for helping me out Hab!

you can actually look up patient numbers by county in michigan.

sw mich?

in 2012:

kalamazoo county 3063 patients

berrien county 2371 patients

2013:

berrien 2280 - caregivers 591

kzoo 2880 - cg 676

cass 653 - caregivers 134

van buren 1479 - caregivers 385

as for oakland county, it seems like the county most against mmj.

crooked cops, crooked prosecutors, crooked judges.

two caregivers growing for 10-12 total patients is not shined on with a bright light in MI. The work is much more than many sick people could take on. Managing five proper patients is a lot of work. Growing more than 72 plants on one property could cause legal confusion. I'd hate to see anyone caught up in that scheme.

good luck

Yeah any felony within past 10 years.

(h) "Primary caregiver" or "caregiver" means a person who is at least 21 years old and who has agreed to assist with a patient's medical use of marihuana and who has not been convicted of any felony within the past 10 years and has never been convicted of a felony involving illegal drugs or a felony that is an assaultive crime as defined in section 9a of chapter X of the code of criminal procedure, 1927 PA 175, MCL 770.9a.

finding a good doc in SW MI ;)

if kzoo is close to you i recommend dr crocker

http://www.michiganholistichealth.com/michigan-medical-marijuana-clinics/kalamazoo-mi-marijuana-clinic.shtml

dr crocker was on the official state of michigan medical marijuana review panel , aka the people who decide which new qualifying conditions to add to the law. so he should be a good doctor to see, one who knows the law.

make sure to bring all medical records with you to your appointment. the doctor will have to evaluate them.

Well from those I talk to, no one seems to actually grow the maximum. It'd be quite a large feat to take on ! I did not know that was frowned upon so I appreciate the advice immensely.
