Can Someone Point Me In The Right Direction?

Recommended Posts

Hello, my name is Chris and I have been looking up different methods that could help me with some lower abdomen pain that I have been having. For years people have been telling me that I have IBS or something like it. Since I do not work full time and Best Buy does not offer health insurance to part-time workers. I don't have a lot of places that I can go to. Sorry if it is a little graphic, but this is what I have been dealing with.

I have a bowel movement about once every week or two. I have lower abdomen pain in my left side almost all the time. The only thing that seems to relieve my pain is either when I fart or do have a movement. During the times when I do, I am often on the throne for about an hour and I struggle. When it does come out, it is like little pellets that are very hard. Sometimes there is blood, sometimes there is not.

I have tried changing my diet, it just comes out green when I tried eating all salads. Putting more fiber in my diet just makes me go more often, but the problems when I do go stays the same. Colon cleaners and laxatives makes me go that day, however my dad tells me that taking those has some adverse effects on my liver.

I am just trying to research more information about how either, eating or something will help at all. Since I don't have access to a doctor I am wondering if someone has any experience with these symptoms and if it has helped any.

Wow, welcome shinmigami!  I am so sorry to hear about all your issues, and I wish I could offer some advice, but alas, I have none.  I will, however, send my good thoughts and wishes your way that a solution will be found and relief will be yours very soon!  Best of luck to you.

Peace...

well welcome to the site!

yes you are right it is a lil graphic lol (not laughing at you but with you)  I was having the same issues, not so much the pain but I was not going enough and when I did it was hard little pellets like I find out in the woods, I took fiber pills with my daily meds, I even took them more than what I was supposed to,,,,Im thinking I ate to much cheese and other things that clogged me up and maybe one of my meds was doing it also!

even when I got a good emptying It was just a bunch of lil hard balls together and it most def concerned me, I didnt have blood, but you may have blood becuase you may have a hemroid you cant see or feel lol, again (grosse) I tried the ruffage like you also, but I quit all dairy products most def cheese, and I also quit peanut butter, I love pb&j when i get the munchies, but Im thinkin the p.b bound me up also, it took me a while to get back to normal, I did not discuss this with my dr. But I feel I should have and most likely will if it comes back, Im thinking your diet will help you, but I would go to a free clinic if possible to make sure nothing is seriously wrong with you, any cost is worth it if you can find out how to get better!

welcome to the boards!

Peace

Apples to have lots of fiber. I have tried that. It doesnt help. I do eat fruit. When i tried eatting nothing but salads for a month I would drink a fruit mix in the morning.

But i will call a health clinic. I wasn't sure if marijuana could help. It just listed digestive while i was researching. And i have no idea if this is a digestive problem that could be solved with it.

Sounds like me along time ago. I was dumb enough to buy that pricks book, something about cures and what they don't want you to know.

I was at my wits end with prescriptions, diets, etc. I chewed through the book, easily sensing the author ego between every line, but then, I heard the bell.

Only four, that's right, four things changed in my life, and I had no more anxiety, no more poop issues, no more blood pressure issues, no nothing. my life changed.

I spent some time sulking at my own inability to treat my organ correctly, and the lack of motivation for so long to learn how. I forgave myself, and poop daily now with ease. read it, follow directions, heal yourself. continuing down your current path will ultimately result in organ failures and disease.  Cannabis will not help you solve your issue, but it may mask your symptoms that are reporting loud and clear now, providing some relief perhaps

Heal swiftly,

peace

try squatting when pooping. it aligns the colon to make you go much easier than sitting on a regular toilet.

you can make your own squat rest/footstool, just a few pieces of wood. basically its like you put your feet up on a box after you sit on the toilet.

not that that will cure any medical problem. it will only make pooping easier.

look at how happy she is to poop!

as for your other problems, yes you should make an appointment with a doctor.

since the obamacare thing, you should be able to get some kind of health insurance. hopefully you arent just paying the fee to avoid insurance?

https://www.healthcare.gov/have-job-based-coverage/part-time-workers/

says you can get cheaper health care, and you can get a plan that only exists from nov 15 to dec 31. so you can buy into it for 2 months and then not renew later. .....

could be obstruction, could be something else, maybe ibs-c (two kinds of ibs, one is ibs-constipation the other is ibs-diarhea) or other digestive problem.

good luck!

Can't help as I had the other kind.  Anxiety was my problem though and once that was gone i've been normal ever since.  Oh and cutting out the bad eating habits helped.  That all happened by CBD calming my stomach.  The THC took care of intestinal inflammation(I'd have gas pains at nite and cramps which would wake me, loosing sleep and excaserbating the anxiety) and the pain.  I was "cured" before I was cured.  It wasn't till I added hi CBD pills that took away the sugar cravings and psychological problems that run in my family(anxiety) that it reached the root of the problem.  THC is an anti inflammatory so if inflammation is blocking you up and creating pain it should help with the pain and inflamation.  And if it's Crohn's or UC I've read, I can't remember where, that THC was the only drug that they'd seen heal the lesions caused by Crohn's or UC.  Most drugs stop the progression, I think, but don't cause for healing.  Gut problems have a bunch of different causes for the same types of symptoms and the same cause could create different symptoms in different people.  It's not toxic and thru the endocannabinoid system it seems to "know what to do when it get's there" type of thing, which is why some think it's snake oil, since it helps with so many conditions.    I don't see how it could hurt but I'm kinda biased since it's helped me tremendously.  I'd take caps though to get it strait to the problem.  Smoking and vaping helped the pain with me but until I started capsules I still had the nite cramps, etc.  Once they went strit to my gut it seemed to start taking down the inflamation and keeping it gone so that I wouldn't have to smoke after a meal.

Oh! crap (pun intended)...but just trying to keep it light here.  We had a thread a few years ago...might have been on another site...where we discussed various results of digestive emergencies.  SFC told a great story about hunting and, as I recall, explosive diarrhea.   I countered with a story from when I was in first grade and had a bit of an accident on the playground and was sent home in sh-tty drawers.  Years later, rehearsing speeches for our high school graduation, one of the girls worked this event into her speech.  The principal asked me if I was OK with this gal telling this awful story to a crowded gymnasium/auditorium at my expense.  My response was along the lines of, “Well, that’s what happened, so why would I care?”  Everybody poops.  I learned that when I was reading potty training books to my kids.

You need to hydrate bro.  Drink a lot of water.

Most laxatives aren't harmful to your liver if they're natural like Metamucil.

Drink 8 glasses of water a day and also take Metamucil.  There are prescription laxatives but some are just stronger doses of over the counter ones. Bisacodyl (sp?) comes to mind.  I would say load up on laxatives and drink tons of water.  Bet you'll be cleared up within a couple days.  Then get on a program where you regulate what you eat.  Some foods cause constipation like cheese.

What Restorium said is a very good idea too.  Eat and apple a day.  Or eat 2.  Or hava pear and an apple.

Hemp may help!

I don't know if this has been mentioned or if you have tried it, but it just may be what you are looking for. It is legal and available at many health food stores.

http://www.amazon.com/Nutiva-Organic-Protein-Fiber-30-Ounce/dp/B001JU6BYE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1415318699&sr=8-2&keywords=organic+hemp+protein+hi+fiber

I tried it for the high protein. I don't know about the protein, but for the fiber, well, let's just say it worked. Ten times more than anything else I have had. I only used it a couple of times because of the "cleansing" result. I was not in need of that. :D

It is healthy. You may want to start off with a smaller amount than they recommend. It may take time for your body to get used to it, like any dietary supplement. It tastes like crap. It might be easier to take if put into gel caps. It is powder so it would be easy to fill the gel caps.

I would give it a try. With the right size dose, it may be a solution to your problem and it has other health benefits.

I have heard of the same issues from one of my patients when they switched to morphine sulphate time released 60 mg tablets. It plugged them up and caused other problems, but it solved their pain problems (or withdraw). Anyway, I didn't know about the hemp fiber, maybe it would have helped her. She went from morphine to only needing a Tylenol 4 here and there just from using MJ for pain. It did take a few years to get to that point though. She was even using the morphine patches for a while. She is off all of the heavy opiates now, just Tylenol 4 here and there.

Good luck to you!

You need to hydrate a lot.  Fiber isn't all that effective if you don't have excess water it can absorb in your digestive tract.

Eat square meals because taking extra fiber can also suck minerals and nutrients out of your body. Just avoid foods that can contribute to constipation. Like I said before avoid cheeses.  Eat nuts, fruit, squash, raw string beans or pretty much any vegetable. When it starts to work you can slowly back the diet off until you are at a place that is comfortable.

You may also wanna try an enema with a laxative in it. You can get them at any pharmacy.

Anyway, if you ate salads for a month to no avail I would guess you weren't drinking enough water.

Hey Chris, I had the exact same problems. Doctor ordered colonoscopy, results were normal. Next step was endoscopy, but it required $400 out-of-pocket so I decided to wait and try to self-diagnose and fix myself. I drank a lot of water. I did an "elimination diet" and ate mostly just lean chicken, brown rice, broccoli, pineapple, green apples and sunflower seeds for a week or so. Then I gradually began reintroducing foods into my diet, to determine the possible culprit. It was gluten. I do not have Celiac's, but I believe I have a gluten intolerance/sensitivity. Gluten is not my friend. Even small amounts make me bloat and constipate. As long as I can avoid it, I have no problems. I am proud to say I now poop daily! Probiotics like yogurt and kefir help aid my digestion, as do fermented foods like sauerkraut and kombucha tea. My medicine will help with pain, but it won't fix the cause. It doesn't make me less intolerant of gluten.

Gluten and Soy have been found to be enemies to the IBD pt. Chris you do need to see a gastro dr asap.Stay away from fiber for now. In fact liquids for a week or so may give your bowels a rest. Not trying to boss you around,it's just that many Drs think fiber is the answer when it ISN'T. DON'T use any kind of colon cleansers right now. Lets try to find you a Gastro Dr. You don't have any insurance coverage? Start out by checking out The Crohns and Colitis Foundation website. They can help you find help in your area. The closer to a city, the better. I am only telling you this because I have been thru a lifetime of mis-diagnosed gut problems, and now have a total colectomy with an ileostomy. And believe it or not, wearing a pouch and NOT having a colon or rectum, has made my life much better. In Feb it will be 6 years since my colectomy. Don't be afraid, there are many people just like you and many others like me that want to help you. I was you most of my life, people don't want to go to a butt Dr. or even talk about it. You will get over that. In fact us ostomates have a pretty crappy sense of humor......yes,a PUN. Plus no one can ever call me an AHOLE because I don't have one. :D
