Michigan Police Still Busting Medical Marijuana Patients for Edibles

If you are planning to travel with marijuana edibles this holiday season, you should know that the cops are still busting people for “baked” goods.

The Michigan Supreme Court handed down a verdict last year stating that THC-infused edibles are not to be considered legal under the state medical marijuana laws, which has given law enforcement a technicality for which to bust medical marijuana patients for weed.

Several patients have already been publicly flogged on hung out to dry by the short and curlies due to this ridiculous loophole, which has cost some people prison time and others outrageous fines.

These types of busts will continue to happen as long as Michigan maintains its ban on the marijuana-infused butter used to make pot brownies and other edibles. Incidentally, these food items are legal in almost every other medical marijuana state in America.

Lawmakers attempted to legalize edibles last year, but it failed to gain enough support.

However, there are a number of ways to conceal pot brownies while traveling that can increase your chances of surviving a routine traffic stop. First and foremost, make sure you are driving legal: proper plates, drivers license, etc. And while pot brownies can be easier to smuggle in some states, law enforcement will likely pry into the ingredients if he or she knows you are a medical marijuana patient. Keep the brownies in the trunk of the car…and if a cop asks if you are a medical marijuana patient, simply tell them “no.”
