what a horrible story

Both of my attorneys refused to file for a Section 8 hearing. As a result, I had an entrapment hearing and lost. And, unbelievably, within minutes I was thrown into a jury trial.

hate to say it, she needs ANOTHER lawyer, one who will file an appeal to get a sec8 hearing.

judge sounds like a piece of work too, denying a request for a delay. is mt pleasant that difficult?

So many heroin abusers hop onto the No. 560 SMART bus to Detroit to buy drugs it’s been dubbed “the heroin express.”

“It’s called the heroin express. There’s not much we can do about it,” said Roseville Police Chief James Berlin, whose city includes multiple popular Gratiot Avenue stops, after attempts to crack down on the practice.

“Yeah, the 560,” sheriff’s Lt. David Daniels, head of his department’s drug unit, repeated in a tone of familiarity. “We’ve had them on that bus from Macomb Township and Chesterfield Township.”

The 560’s route – mostly on Gratiot from Macomb County across Eight Mile to Detroit -- has steered hundreds of young people down the path to a premature death.

Heroin and opiate prescription drug abuse has skyrocketed in the county in recent years, giving Macomb the dubious distinction of leading the state in fatal heroin overdoses over a three-year period.

Heroin began seeping into the county about 10 years ago. Its prevalence has progressed to the point where addiction, arrests and overdoses from heroin and other opiates are overwhelming.

“It’s something that happening in every community,” said Judge Linda Davis, president of the statewide organization, Fraser-based Families Against Narcotics (FAN), formed in 2007. “We’ve been screaming about it for the past seven years and nobody listened. Now kids are dropping like flies. They’re not just addicted now, they’re dying. We are getting so many calls from people wanting to get involved with us.”

“I’m very concerned,” said Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, the former sheriff.

“It’s devastating to the community,” said Monique Stanton, CEO of CARE of Southeast Michigan. “It’s disruptive to families, the school systems. It affects the spouse or the partner, siblings, friends, relatives. If the person is employed, it affects their job. It’s affecting all aspects of the community.”

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said at least 70 percent of inmates at the county jail did drugs or committed a crime to fund a drug habit.

So sickening to see things such as this over a plant!

Any word on what the sentence is? What  are/were the 4 felony charges?

No one deserves to be charged that seriously for a non violent crime or just an offense. For some reason I don't feel that I would be any safer on the streets locking up someone like her. Locking her up for a plant is a crime itself in my opinion.

WARREN, Michigan, December 22, 2014 - For Tamara Hudson, mother of three, today was a victorious day. Tamara was being sentenced for four cannabis related felonies.

As she stood in front of the judge to be sentenced he stated that what she did was wrong. Tamara feels strongly that the more than fifteen court supporters, as well as the sixty letters that were written on her behalf asking for leniency, greatly influenced the judge’s decision. Tamara got two years probation and a six month suspended sentence instead of six months in jail. This is a great example of what defendant support can accomplish.

Tamara has worked tirelessly on her case from posting videos to asking supporters to write letters to the judge. Along with focusing on her own case, Tamara has worked to unite THSI chapters in Michigan and show other defendants support as well. Tamara left her own court appearance today and went to another defendant's court hearing instead of celebrating her own victory.

I still dont know what the charges were for, I watched a few video's didnt they charge her with 9 counts like 5 of them fellony's?

tamara is exhibit 1 for how not to pick an attorney.

most impt on how to pick is talk to both happy and peeed off folks who have used that atty, at least 5 former clients with cases charged like yours.

yeah, 5.  cases charged similar to yours.

it takes time. It's hard work.  when you fail to insist on doing it, tamara results.

tamara is nice and pretty and well spoken, and as sympathetic as possible, but she is also the exhibit for how not to pick the defender of your freedom.

atty cooperation.  disgruntled former employees of the atty.  court staff in the venue where a given atty usually practices.   legal newspapers.  suits filed against an attorney, including divorces.  his ex-wife.   martindale hubbel.  the professors the atty had during law school.  classmates in law school.  picking an atty is hard but not boring.  it is similar to being an investigative reporter, i guess.  phone and balls.  if you're shy and retiring, meet folks and shrink, it'll be difficult.  you might sweat and puke.  whatever reaction you have to digging for facts, it's not as difficult--or as long--as doing time and losing your life til you're out.

you're narrowing a list of 5 likelys down to one the atty who'll carry the day for you.   you're gonna the beat unfair charges and burn a mark for justice.

I am not sure phaq, I will hopefully speak with her today.

Wouldnt it be a mistrial if your attny dont do what you want him/her to do, they work for you, I was told to get a court appt by able and he said he would side bar and if that court appt attny did not do what I told him to do it would be a mistrial!

do you know that to be true?  I swear that is what matt able told me for a possesion charge, and I got out of it w/o seeing a judge, the prosecutor dropped it!

Peace

edit= and I just had paper work and I didnt even start the paperwork until after I was arrested!

depends exactly how it went down for it to be a mistrial or not. also sometimes on appeal the defendant will say ineffective counsel, but the coa routinely rejects that reasoning.

if she told the judge she wanted a sec8 and told the judge her lawyer would not do it, and the judge continued (and that was all on record/transcript), then that maybe a mistrial, maybe.

I said it never made it to court!  the judge had nothing to do with it being dropped, but had I went to court and the attny didnt do as instructed it would be a mistrial!  until another attny can tell me diff I have to beleive that, this isnt a jail house attny telling me this its one of the so-called mm specialist attny's.

and by the way you dont need an mm attny you need an attny who knows law and most do, it dont matter what the case is about if an attny accepts you as a client than he best know the laws, I have fired attny's like this lady did, and they had to wait untill I got a new attny I would not accept a court appt with this kind of charges, we all know who pays the attny after you pay them the 200 you usauly have to pay!
