What Happens If You Change Your Name?

If I change my name legally, and I get a new driver licence I understand I need to submit for a new mj card.

I will get a new driver licence, then submit for a new card, but while all that is happening, is my current card valid?

Do all patients cards connected to me get updated?

Are my patient cards and my card valid through this process?

Thanks for all the help

  • 3 weeks later...

I know am an over thinker, but....

I have not changed my name with s.s. yet, which as I understand is the first step. Step 2 change my D.L. after my s.s. is updated.

I understand with my new D.L.(that I don't have yet) I can send in a change patient name and a caregiver change form, at that time I can request replacement cg cards for all patients.

I understand all this, but on a just signed patient.....which name do I use, do I just wait, or risk it?

well well well...

The privilege from arrest under this subsection applies only if the qualifying patient presents both his or her registry identification card and a valid driver license or government-issued identification card that bears a photographic image of the qualifying patient.

The privilege from arrest under this subsection applies only if the primary caregiver presents both his or her registry identification card and a valid driver license or government-issued identification card that bears a photographic image of the primary caregiver.

nothing in the MMMA or section 4 of the MMMA requires the names on the two cards to match. as long as they are both valid , unexpired etc.

so...

i'd say.......

sign up a patient using your old drivers license and copy of your marriage license and tell lara to use your new name on your patients card.

but you are in oakland county and i am not a lawyer. do not take this as legal advice, this is just my opinion. good luck.
