Keep Profit Incentive Out Of Legalization.

Recommended Posts

If the prohibitionists are really concerned about the proliferation of marijuana, then they need to get on board the "Free The Weed" train.

It seems to me that when the profit motive is introduced to cannabis legalization, pushing the substance won't be far behind. People will be in business to make money. Making money = making more sales = advertising to drum up business.

Why can't the substance just be "Legalized" (with a capital "L") so that anybody over the age of 21 can grow and sell as much as they want? Under this scenario the competition would keep prices low and quality high.

Make it illegal to advertise and "push" pot. It won't be hard for people to find a local supplier by word of mouth. Most pot smokers are already tapped into the pot pipeline so it won't be hard to find any. Prosecute people who provide it to minors/people under 21.

Seems awful damned easy and won't require a whole new government bureaucracy or corporate system.

Just let it go.

All the arguments being put forth about the need for quality control and regulation are for one purpose and one purpose only:  :money: :money: :money: :money: :money:

Too late.  CO getting $100 million a year for gov coffers. In places where it isn't yet taxed, the $100 million goes into the pockets of many many individuals, legally and not.  Part of lure of mj is the lure of cash.  Part of the lure of a female is the lure of sex.  Cannot put the genie back in the bottle, and too late to change humans for a revised version that won't chase an opportunity until it no longer exists. Politics is just the tugging of interest groups who all want more, because humans want more.  Might as well try to keep sex out of dating.  Keep $$ out of weed? Ridiculous.  Your pure minded approach is for a people, and a place, we do not know.  Can you keep food out of the mouths of the obese?  Doesn't happen.  Laws seek to control the tugging by certain groups and apportion the spoils artificially.   They don't change man's nature.

Reminds me of when Illinois Governor intended to "sell" Obama's vacated senate seat,  "I've got this thing, and it's f___ing golden. I'm just not giving it up for f___ing nothing."

Fraud involving the appointment of a senator to fill the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama is the most notable charge against Blagojevich. Blagojevich was overheard on a recorded phone call saying "I've got this thing, and it's f__ing golden. I'm just not giving it up for f_ing  nothing." He was also recorded as saying, "it's a f__ing valuable thing, you just don't give it away for nothing", and that "If I don't get what I want ... I'll just take the Senate seat myself."

Blagojevich allegedly sought the following in exchange for an appointment:[26]

  • A substantial salary for himself at either a non-profit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions.
  • Placing his wife on paid corporate boards where he speculated she might garner as much as $150,000 a year.
  • Promises of campaign funds—including cash up front.
  • A Cabinet post or ambassadorship for himself to Serbia.

edit: can't say "fuggin" on here... whoopee
