Need Some Help Please

Recommended Posts

Hi all,  I find myself in desperate need to get my dog surgery, I took her to the vet because i noticed something wrong, they ran tests and found out she has a large diaphragmatic hernia. This is a life threatening condition, the chest walls fill with fluid and intestines making it impossible to breath.she is just making it as of now but wont last long... She is my companion, and gives me comfort.. The surgery is normally 4k dollars, my vet searched out and found a specialist that can do the surgery for only $2k but like most of us on disability, that means broke barely enough to live on..This is a major financial problem , I don't want to have to put her down. please if you can help even a little..she is the best and needs your help..

Thanks so much.

Good luck with her, Willy. I know how it is to get attached to a pet and how hard it is to lose one. I added what I could to your fund and hope that others can too. And soon! Do you know any farm veterinarians? I knew one that worked out of an old house trailer and didn't charge nearly as much as other vets. Seems like there should be a vet somewhere that would take what you have rather than letting her die. Someone with a big heart.

I checked brother, most of the vets around me wont touch her,, they dont have the skills, The normal cost for this surgery is 4000. my usual vet was pretty useless, but I found another that went the mile for lady... this new vet found me a specialist that is going to do it, but still 2000.  half off,  I am appalled that they charge so much, I think they know we love our pets,,, I shoulda been a vet :)

Well she had surgery today, it seems there diagnosis wasn't right on, it turns out they found the problem isolated to the chest cavity,  They think that its possibly cancer or a lung torsion? dogs have 4 sections to there lungs and occasionally a part becomes twisted?  only a MRI can truly identify the issue..you may wonder why it wasnt done first ( I thought I could apply the cost to the surgery since surgery was deemed necessary), I discussed it with the dr and it was decided that exploratory would find the problem if it was abdominal he could fix it right then. to go into the chest cavity is not good at all, much more expensive operation.... Man IM bummed, I still get a bill, and probably  loose my friend too.. this sucks!!!!

And yes i will start her on our  treatment as well..

Man I'm really very sorry to hear this Willy. Hoping things turn out better for Lady.

When I see things like this it really scares the hell out of me. I'm going to try to start

putting some money aside just in case something like this happens. Or anything major really.

Those vets are ridiculously pricey and I just could not imagine losing Blaze or having to

put him down over something stupid just because I couldn't afford it. That would kill me...

I'll say a little prayer for you and Lady, bro.

i am very sorry to read this willy.

i sincerely hope she finds health and happiness.

i put my first dog Sheba to rest in June 2004 and then i just put my snickers to rest last August 2014

i just now got a replacement model:)

an all black German Shepherd Dog Hanna... potentially my best one yet. i rescued her when her previous humans cancer came back out of remission.

my vet told my mom last year when she put her dog down that the positive thing about a dogs life span being so short is that as a human you will have several opportunities to love more than one.

as hard as death is it is a fact of life.

i offer every condolence in my mind for you willy... i remember all to well the days with my dogs.

No its not good, her chest cavity is filled with a growth, :? cancer ? most likely.. I had the first operation.. and there wasn't nothing they could do.. I am doing my own treatment, but it really don't look good.. go fund me has allowed me to at least not be in deep debt.. so to all who donated thank you so much.. I am devastated,, she has been the best dog ever.. one in a million.. I'm pretty bummed out to say the least.. I can say that i will never ever get another... its really to hard to go thru this, she is like my child...

Sorry I couldn't help out or give more Willy, I hope that in the event of her passing she does so peacefully.

It is sad, this poem/prayer, but it has been one recited for each pet I have lost since learning it: It does however help heal the soul in the end, if only a small bit at a time. I always cry reading it, but feel better after--

"If it should be, that I grow frail and weak,

And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Then you must do what must be done

For this, the last battle, can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand.

Don't let your grief then stay your hand,

For this day, more than the rest,

Your love and friendship stand the test.

We've had so many happy years

What is to come can hold no fears.

You'd not want me to suffer, so,

When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend only,

Stay with me to the end,

And hold me firm and speak to me,

Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will see

It is a kindness you do to me

Although my tail its last has waved

From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Don't grieve it should be you,

Who decides this thing to do,

We've been so close, we two, these years

Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Smile - for we walked together,

For a little while."
