Should The Mmma Endorse The Mcc Petition?

Everyone at the table wants legalization. BUT some of us think that the Governor, The Attorney General, and the legislature do not have our best interests at heart, we know their intent. They have made it clear.

What I suggest we do is this:

The MMMA should get out front on this in a big way. Use it for all it's worth to get the change we need. Point out publicly that legalization would be just awesome BUT with the Governor we have and the conservative legislature's known agenda we can't endorse any quasi legalization/privatization of marijuana in Michigan because of all the ill intent. We need to point this out to the voters as often as possible. As high of profile as possible. Tell the people our problem. Make it known. We need that to eventually get this all right. Having been fighting for medical for years now we know what most people do not know. Let em know! Let them know who stands up against them. We have plenty of examples to show intent. This could be a huge thing for the MMMA. Show a little muscle. Show the backbone we have. We will not cave in when we get smoke blown up our arses by folks that have nothing to actually offer that is good.

Not only a "Like", but an AMEN!

My other 2¢ is that why are we having this discussion so early in the game? Personally, I need to time to read and reread each proposal, think about them, listen to the discourse among the community, read them again, and maybe then make a decision.

I believe we should have lots of discussions around the proposals, but let's not put the cart before the horse.

New point:  Why doesn't MMMA put together an advisory group of some really smart cannabis, law, etc. people to review each proposal and report back to the larger community with their analysis?

For everyone one of you who have been around since '09 or so, there are dozens of us who only have a few years in the program. We don't have the knowledge, experience or the History of the MMMA to consider when trying to participate in these discussions.  Hence the suggestion for a seasoned group to tear the proposals apart and put them back together for the newer members.

Maybe it's just me but I don't think any of this has to do with the right language.  It definitely helps but the problem lies with the cops, prosecuters, etc.  Hasn't that been shown by the supreme court, somewhat?  Wasn't there a jail guard who took his own life?  Over butter?  Did he do that because of teh wording in the law or the stigma and state of affairs? Words are nice but if the intent and stigma isn't taken away the words can only do so much.

Not that there is a "right time" for this as a dem congress can turn into a repub congress and certain parts of the state probably won't take instruction well no matter what the words are.  I think one of these laws(not the 10 grows one) will push acceptance forward just by sheer volume and there will be less arrests all around if either of the 2 of the 3 make it thru.

If this becomes a problem for a larger percent of the state population I think there will be more awareness and less patients suffering.

Obviously the least loopholes for LEO is best but no matter what there is going to be "blowback" because of the current view.

180 days to collect signatures, signature collecting starts soon.

you want an endorsement in the last week of time to collect sigs?

i agree with all of your points, just pointing out the facts.

mmma reviewed each proposal and submitted comments to mcc and milegalize.

both of which made changes based on our comments.

mcc pulled their petition because of a serious error we spotted.

milegalize made changes based on our comments.

neither one took our advice to remove marijuana from the controlled substance schedule 1 public health code of michigan.

would a public analysis help? i mean, theres lawyers involved in the mmma, mcc and milegalize. we all think the language in the petitions is (mostly) clear. we cant predict the future , and everyone has been wrong in one part or another, in analyzing the mmma court cases so far.

i dont mind working on it, could you maybe give me an example of what you want it to look like or where to start?

maybe an infographic would work, explaining whats legal, whats illegal, what the fine would be, what the criminal charge would be under each proposal. but i'd hate to give advice that people would take as legal advice, when theres no lawyer in the state that can say for certain what will happen once these laws get to court, assuming they are passed.

but hey , it sounds like a good idea. maybe when presented like that, the proposal groups may re-evaluate their language to make changes.

theres also a strategy of not bringing up negative points of the proposals so as to not give our enemies any ammo to use against us.

both. but also he lost his job, possibly lost his pension, was facing a year? in prison, where he worked and knew exactly what would happen to a jail guard who would now be in jail. not to mention he was given the deal only if he testified against his fellow guards.

thats a lot of stress and nonsense over a plant and some butter.

Matt Marsden, a spokeperson for MCC, tells us that the measure would allow those 21 to cultivate up to two plants cannabis plants for personal use, with municipalities given the option of increasing the number to four, or prohibiting personal cultivation all together.

Their you go which city or town in Oakland County would increase plant count ?
