Milegalize Money Bomb?

Recommended Posts

He IS assuming that both proposals would be implemented as written. Those of us that study our legislature KNOW differently. We need to share our knowledge with those who don't know.

just direct your questions to the almighty restorium # 2. HE KNOWS what the legislature is going to do. Why didn't you utilize this power before now? Kind of rude, eh? You asked a dumb antagonistic question so you got the same for an answer. Keep scaring people to milegalize, they love it.

Lets discuss the topic and not go into your little haters tantrums eh?

How odd that donating requires personal info. Odd more so that donating to peoples gofundme's or other such things never required any sort of the same info..Would love to donate, but there is not a snowballs chance in hell that I'm releasing my personal info to appease what state law thinks it can and cant do in regards to information collection on the internet.

On another note, going to have to agree with Sune here. You aren't some darn future reading know it all monster there, internet tough guy. Scare tactics are scare tactics whether they're used by the police, or "Know better" super citizen computer chair professors. inb4youtrytoinsultthenimmaturelyshiftthetopic....again.

It's to keep the process clean and fair.... at least to the point where the legislature and the State gets it then no holds barred.

Hey... anyone want to 'moneybomb' me?

I just spent my entire savings, house $$ and grocery $$ @ the Vet's yesterday.

I promise any donations sent will be utilized to make my situation better.

Which brings up a question that I have no idea of the answer: How do we know exactly how the money is used? How do we know it's not some brilliant idea of how to fund a bunch of huge and really cool parties? LOL Where are the parties then? There is always a silver lining ...

Here's the info so far from MiLegalize:

"Election law any donation over $20 must have a name and address... Over $100 we need employer info also"

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions and i'll see what I can do to help.

Can someone make multiple donations of $19 without supplying a name and address?

Can you submit $99 without employer info?

These are serious questions.  I would prefer to keep my donations confidential, and I must keep my employer information out of it.  I believe donations are public and I could be terminated for attaching my companies name to a political donation.

I would like to donate $100, but need to figure out how to protect myself.

I would also like to add that I contacted MILegalize about a week ago with a question about signing the petition, and never received a reply (aside from an automated reply).  I am all in for this inititative, but if you can't respond to someone who is actively seeking to sign your petition, you may be in trouble.  Hopefully it was a one time over sight.

For what it's worth, I'm sure they're inundated with questions and messages, perhaps yours was overlooked or not answered yet. I'll pose the question to them and see if I get a response.

I touched base with them regarding this topic. The issue is that when it comes time for "the man" to review their finances and signatures and all of that, they will be greatly scrutinized. Any actions that appear to try and circumvent the rules could cause invalidation of donations (meaning they have to refund that money) or possibly cause the entire plan to be considered illegitimate! Obviously it would be awful for us to get through this entire process, and have someone get hung up on some silly technicality towards the end (because that's never happened before, right? lol)

Here is the info from the mi.gov page regarding donations

"Can I donate money to candidates? Yes, unless you fall into one of the prohibited groups; foreign national or casino supplier or licensee explained above. This is a very common type of participation in Michigan elections. Many individuals donate directly to candidates. Contributions may be made with cash up to $20.00, a check, money order, or credit card. There are limits on the amount of money that you can donate to a candidate in Michigan elections. The committee is the best source to find out how much you can contribute to their campaign. You will have to provide information to the committee. This includes your name and address. If you contribute over $100.00 to the committee you must also provide your employer information and occupation. The committee is required to report this information on a campaign statement. This information is accessible to the public."

Again this is michigan law. I understand the hesitation due to this, but I personally decided the potential negative impact of MiLegalize losing this battle outweighed my own concerns.

Any donations are greatly appreciated by MiLegalize, but I personally also appreciate them as well. I don't want to see what a monopoly style legalization looks like. I don't want law enforcement continuing to rake in huge money from cannabis. They've had their pay day, and it's time to end it. I want to see a small business friendly, infrastructure improving, education funding plan, that strengthens protections for patients who need it, protects those who enjoy it, and allow us to start a whole new farming industry with hemp legalization.

Thanks again! I'm happy to try and answer any questions I can, and I'll try and reach out to MiLegalize if I don't know the answer.

Thanks for the update.  I guess I will submit a $99 donation.  I am somewhat comfortable with my name being attached, but can not risk having my employers name attached as well.

Edit:  Donation made.

I'd like to say thank you very much for donating Jester, I personally appreciate it greatly and I know MiLegalize does as well. Every bit helps and donors are still matching until the 25th of July.

So in the 4 days since I started this thread, a total of $364 have been donated. I think that's pretty good so far! I hope we can get another $636, because i'd love to hit the $1000 mark!

Thank you again so much to everyone who has donated so far, and a big thanks to those planning to donate. If we can hit the $1k mark, that means we will have generated $2k total with the matching donations.

thanks again

I'd just ask everyone to think about when and where you have given out some of this info in the past. Your cellphones and computers place you in grow houses daily.

True, but at this point it isn't publicly available data that can be searched by my employer.  If it were ever to become so, I would have some issues, for sure.
