Advice Regarding A Bust

A friend of mine got stopped and in the course of events the police found a small amount of a concentrate. It is less than a gram. He got charged with possession and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

 

He has no income currently and was assigned a court appointed attorney. Is he screwed or would it be worth it to stage a defense? He has a current, up to date MM card.

Should fight it or else will lose drivers license if convicted.

Need more info! why did he get pulled over, how did they wind up searching vehicle, how they charged him with dui? etc, and what county!

 

Please tell what you can w/o exposing a possible court fight.
