Rubio says he'd use federal law to crack down on marijuana
  • Alex Leary, Times Washington Bureau Chief

Monday, August 10, 2015 1:32pm

Marco Rubio says as president he would enforce federal law against states that have legalized marijuana.

“Absolutely,” he said Sunday on Meet the Press. “I believe the federal government needs to enforce federal law.” (That part of the interview was short so Rubio's ideas on how far to go are not clear; he's also championed states' rights on various issues.)

But the Florida Republican also said he is open to medical marijuana, provided it goes through the FDA approval process and has true medicinal benefits. “I’m not in favor of legalizing marijuana. I’m not. I never have been.”

The question, posed to Rubio from Facebook, marked the second time recently that Rubio has been asked about marijuana. During a forum in New Hampshire, he gave a more expansive response, insisting he would not favor anything used “as a way to get high.”

“This country is already paying a significant price for illegal use of drugs and even alcohol."

Rubio has declined to say whether he used marijuana in his earlier years.

Ok I think I understand now. So it's OK for Donald Trump to ask the local government to condemn an old lady's house next to his casino in Atlantic City so he can demolish the "eyesore" and put a fountain and parking lot there instead. And, then after he realizes that AC is going downhill, he can bankrupt the entire company and pull out.

Yes. Republicans are only in favor of government in so far as what it can do to advance causes that are dear to their hearts. Actually though it is the same for Democrats too.

What I do not understand is why so many people who do not benefit from Republican policy still buy into the Republican schtick. I just don't get it.

They are desperate people who want something they will never get in a true democracy so they want someone who could possibly change the rules for them, against the will of the people, like a dictator. Doesn't Trump sound like a third world dictator? Kim Jung Trump.

Vladmir Trump.

sure, but lets not forget the local government, evidently the sum of the lesser of two evils voted into place, gladly accepted Trump's request.
