Fifth year of a eight year term?   Another Quitter?

She must be channeling sarah palin.

the republican constituancy gets jipped again.  You just cant count on the repubs when the going gets rough.

They either avoid the fight or just get up and run.....cowards

After all, she left with her top achievement: leaving Medical Marijuana in Michigan half baked. I wonder if she ever finishes anything?

For the google bots and history that will be searchable forever....  She can spin it any way she wants but;

Supreme Court Judge Mary Beth Kelly , her legacy is giving up her post for politics and money. That overshadows everything she did as a Supreme Court Justice. Fail.

Yea.  Also, by resigning and not resigning at election time, she allows a republican incumbent to be on the ballot.

If she was a dem would you be happier?

I worked for a few company's in my carreer and when I felt I could no longer accomplish what I was trying to do I moved on to bigger and better things!

Yea it sucks that they get to appoint a repub and than that repub can run as an incumbent, I dont like that, We would be better served if they had to do an emergency election to fill her slot and let the people pick who they want,  be it repub or dem!

I have never felt guilty leaving a company to better me and my family!

I only worked for others when I had no choice, and as soon as I could I went back to work for myself, I have a problem with people making money off of my hard work, so most of my adult life I was self employed, paid my taxes and did the best I could for my family,

I bet alot of you wish others would quit there jobs and move on, I know I do!

as far as our vote counting, im not so sure about that!  I have voted all of my life, well I did skip a few times when I had to vote all one side in primary's and such, If my vote count's than I should be able to split my vote between party's if that is how I choose!

any how yea its all about money, she will most def make a whole lot more money in private practice than she does as a s.c judge!

Plus she knows all of the ins and outs!

I have always used atttny's who were previously prosecutors or judges! and I have never been let down by one that came from that back ground!

I once got a court appt'd attny in alcona county and that attny was a prosecuting attny in tawas!  Now I call that lucky, and it worked out totaly to my bennifit! :bong7bp:

Peace

This isn't about leaving a company. This is about failing to meet your obligations and commitments as an elected public servant. A commitment of  8 years, and she knew full well. I mean, if it were health concerns, or health concerns of her family, I totally get it. But this appears to be a money grab, which is what is wrong with elected officials, and especially disgusting for a State Supreme Court Judge.  Complete what you promised under oath to complete.

I mean, if Kelly had not run knowing she wouldn't but barely complete half her term in the most coveted judicial position in Michigan, We would still have Justice Bob Young on the Court,... a person whom would have ruled much more favorably toward our positions on the MMMAct.  It matters.

If you're not used to finding poor character, you should be. This is not enough to surprise me.

Well, she made a verbal commitment under oath to serve her duly elected term.

Would it stand up in court?  Definitely not THIS court!

hahaha.

Just another hack out for personal gain.

She filed her oath that would state this:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the constitution of this state, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of .......... according to the best of my ability.

She did not faithfully discharge her duties of her office to the best of her ability. She walked away halfway through.

Anyhow, yea wtvr.  Good riddens and I hope she chokes on a pretzel. ;-p
