New Caregiver - Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

I've just signed up my first patient, waiting on our cards. Looking to add a second patient soon.

I've read through a lot of the posts in the CG forum, but have not found much "advice" regarding the recent MSC rulings on Harwick and Tuttle. I have a copy of a draft contract(s) that was posted (don't recall the posters name) that attempts to "protect" the CG in light of H & T.

Can someone point me in the right direction? Is there an experienced CG out there who would be willing to mentor me? Would it be worth an hour of an (MJ specialist) attorney's time?

One thing that I'm really unclear about is the idea of a "reasonable amount" beyond the 2.5 oz allowed, to fulfill a patients need. I know I can hold 2.5 oz per patient. Both patients are in the 1-1.5 oz per month. Ditto for me. One harvest and I'm way over the limit. As a CG, if I can demonstrate a "patient's need", ie 1 oz per month, can I stock meds to cover the four months until the next harvest?

I can see how a perpetual grow would work the best, but I want a break between grows for travel, etc.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

you can hold 2.5 for each patient encluding your self.. 4 cards 10oz  , go with perpetual, keep the numbers best you can.. as far as trips and travel.. hahahaha you can forget that shet.. aint gonna happen.. doubtful you can hold 3 months worth, you can try section 8 got that uninteruppted supply, but I would say good luck with that.. just grow the numbers, as a CG  the world you thought you knew will never be the same.. good luck with that.. I guess you missed my post about what to expect as a cg.. LOL

if your patients want an uninterrupted supply while you break/vacation ask them to buy up your 2.5 ounces per day until all of your/their stock is gone, then vacation.

you consider stocking more than the law allows because "you can demonstrate their need" and its "defendable" ? ????   crazy man.... but, if you have the funds to defend properly have it, we could use some good rulings concerning this subject.

2.5 for you

2.5 for each patient

who told you vacations are for caregivers?  those are reserved for patients only, or part time cg's.

now....we could cycle our patients between us yearly and alternate vacation time with some careful scheduling possibly :P

let me ask you this. for the sake of taking a vacation  occasionally, and making sure your first patients will not be out of meds while you have down time, you would risk needing to hire an attorney and pay a years wages to them to "prove patient necessity" ?? what a swell guy you are.  please reconsider

I've played like that ^ and it happened to work out well. Can you imagine a perfected system of long term patients, all happy with their arrangements. The strain/garden variations etc would be awesome ! I'd kick it around over flowers :bong2:

you can have a life and be a caregiver, it all depends on your setup, and how good your security is. For 20 bucks you can set up automatic watering. The leaving part for most is the fear of what ifs. Getting robbed power failures etc etc. many different setups will allow you to leave for a cpl weeks though. The other issue is staying perpetual. Most people put in a plant every few days to keep up the supply they need. There is also a ton of work that will be behind when you come back, but it's possible, personally we haven't left the house for more than 24 hours together in a few years.

Yup right with ya there , been a few years for more than an overnight for me and wife as well.. you can go out, have dinner.. and ya some in dirt can go a few more longer periods.. but ya the if's, they'll get ya every time, , I just had a 4 day power outage,, I am glad i was here to shuffle outdoors for a temp fix.. but honestly I worry alot.. do i have a life, not much.. life is on this computer.. and occasional short runs out to visit.. haha even then i worry what I will find when i return.. even after years of growing,

I stress a lot less than I used to, but only because I have already dealt with most of the issues, and gotten past them so I know it's not the end of the world. It can be a very rewarding job, but it can also make you very bitter for what you are giving up. Many times I have considered giving it up for a "normal" life again, but then there are the times when i know I am improving the quality of someone's life, and can't see myself doing anything else. As long as you don't expect to get financially wealthy caregiving can be very fulfilling.

I realy want a generator that runs on propane and kicks on when the power goes out, I have wanted one even when I wasnt growing, I have a sump pump and if im camping and it rains and we have a power outage my basement would most def be flooded,  as much as some spend on their grow equip a full house generator would be the best investment you can make, plus the camera app!

just my 2 cnts!

and if your smart you shouldnt have to worry about rippers!

Peace

phaq,

there are battery back ups for the sump pumps that work great. coupled with a cheap phone dialer, one that calls you when power fails, or when it senses water and you're good to go on the cheap.

I want one of those auto gens too. Unfortunately I bought a large one years ago, on wheels, that runs the grow and the house completely. Now I'd have to buy another one, rent a propane tank because we're all electric power here (no natural gas available, nor do I use propane, except the little tanks for my c02 generator.)I had the easy plugs installed on the house and garden meters so all I have to do is plug, flip, and play. We lose power no less than four times per year. One recent year the outage lasted for more than a week! 25$ a day in gasoline to support both the meters, winter or summer.  tank rental is free if you use the gas, but used for a generator, bbq, and c02 gen....wouldn't be enough to qualify, so rent is $60 month here!

Thats the point man, each by itself isn't a big outlay, but added up were gonna see some serious cake going out... is it worth it, likely so.. but being poor as hell, easier to just stay home, not that i go anywhere anyway.. but its just a 20+ 20+ 20 etc.. till oops outta 20.'s LOL
