Hillary Clinton is targeting the nation’s drug abuse epidemic in her latest policy roll out.

Clinton published an editorial this morning in a New Hampshire newspaper saying that, beginning with her first trip to the state this spring, drug addiction and its impact on families has been a consistent theme that has arisen in her meetings with voters

“In state after state, this issue came up again and again — from so many people, from all walks of life, in small towns and big cities,” wrote Clinton, in the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Twenty-three million Americans suffer from addiction, yet only 1 in 10 get treatment, Clinton wrote. In 2013, more Americans died from drug overdoses than car crashes.

“Drug and alcohol addiction is a disease, not a moral failing – and we must treat it as such,’’ Clinton wrote.

Last month, the Democratic front-runner pledged to develop policies to deal with addiction and mental illness and dispatched advisers to consult medical and substance abuse experts.

Her $10 billion plan would create school-based programs to try and prevent the first use of alcohol or drugs by allowing state and local leaders to tailor their own programs and expand in-patient and out-patient services as well as the number of providers. It would also ensure that all first responders have access to naloxone, a drug that stops opioid overdoses from becoming fatal.  Further, her proposal would require licensed prescribers to undergo more training in identifying addiction and prioritize rehabilitation over prison for low-level and nonviolent drug offenses.

Clinton’s plan would direct $7.5 billion in funding for state-federal partnerships and $2.5 billion to existing programs.

What? A Clinton blowing another 10 billion a year on the drug war. Who would have guessed....

Funding DARE programs, drug task forces and making Doctors identify addiction curtailing even more pain prescriptions for those that actually need it.

I do hate Clintons.  Self Proclaimed Rockefeller Republicans. Bleh.
