I read an article on this site from the Three Little Birds on recycling your soil. They said they add Greensand even though it takes months to work, because Promix becomes acidic with time. My problem is that the bag of Greensand only gives amounts in square footage of ground, and I need it in volume (cu. ft.). I called Espoma but they couldn't help me. Does anyone know how much to add to a given amount of recycled Promix?

I have some in a box on a shelf somewhere. Never used it though. I'm using the same promix I started with years ago. I did notice a small increase in acidity trend in "brand newly recycled soil runoff" some time ago but it changes all the way through the subsequent grows so I never paid any never mind. I figured it was due to unspent nutrients, hot mixes, etc. I cannot plant newly rooted copies into my recycled soil(grr) without shock. I might just toss that bag into the bins for good measure. I'll report back in a few if any changes noticed. Good find, I haven't seen the greensand rec'd for recycling soils. nice.

I would "eye-ball" the amount personally if nobody has a definitive answer. If a cup is good for a square yard of surface prolly it will do fine for a few five pails I would guess.
