SAULT STE MARIE, MI — U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) announces the seizure of over 52 grams of marijuana and 7 hydrocodone pills at the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

On September 21, 2015, a returning United States citizen and resident of Royal Oak, Michigan arrived at the International Bridge and offered nothing to declare to the inspecting CBP Officer.

An overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle instigated a search of the vehicle where the marijuana and pills were found concealed throughout his luggage.

“It is important to know that marijuana cannot be imported into the U.S. regardless of state regulations,” stated Port Director Patrick Wilson.

The male declared that he was in possession of a Michigan Medical Marijuana License and was informed that federal law still prohibits the possession and importation of the drug.

After paying an on-site fine, the traveler was released.

Lawyer says he’ll sue over marijuana ordinance

Special meeting today

By Amy Hubbell Of The Enterprise staff

A special meeting of the Kasson Township Board has been called for 6 p.m. today, Sept. 24, to discuss threatened litigation over its ordinance regulating commercial production of marijuana. A Benzie County attorney is threatening to file a lawsuit over the township ordinance which he alleges “directly conflicts” with Michigan’s Medical Marijuana Act (MMMA).

Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Colleen O'Brien was another possible pick, but Snyder on Tuesday named her to the Michigan Court of Appeals, where she will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Pat Donofrio.

WARREN - A Warren house explosion wasn't caused by gas and it wasn't a meth labicon1.png. Instead it was a different drug that begins with a 'm' and the fire chief says they've never dealt with an explosion like this before.

The Warren Fire Department says the explosion stemmed from the production of medical marijuanaicon1.pngleading to a valuable lesson.

"Apparently they were attempting to extract THC oil out of the marijuana," said Warren Fire Department Battalion Chief John Dalton. "There are a couple processes I've been told they use, one is butane."

Dalton says that led up to the explosion on Harold Street Monday afternoon.

Plea rejected, trial set for ex-lawmaker in pot case

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) - Former state lawmaker and city commissioner has decided to take his chances at trial on two marijuana charges.

This caught my eye: "Schmidt identified himself as a medical marijuana patient and caregiver. The ex-city commissioner and West Side icon admitted to selling to at least 20 people who are not his registered patients, nor did they possess a Michigan Medical Marijuana card, court records show." Specifically what he admitted to doing.

And his defense will be??
