Dea Chief: Medicinal Marijuana Is A 'joke'

Recommended Posts

"What really bothers me is the notion that marijuana is also medicinal—because it's not," Rosenberg said in a briefing to reporters, according to CBS. "We can have an intellectually honest debate about whether we should legalize something that is bad and dangerous, but don't call it medicine—that is a joke."

What bothers me the most about that moronic statement is the implication in this snippet: whether we should legalize something that is bad and dangerous

Anyway, Rosenberg contends that cannabis "has never been shown to be safe or effective as a medicine." which shows that he is ignorant of the vast amount of evidence over THOUSANDS of years (including modern scientific studies).

He was really taken to task on factcheck.org here.

Acting DEA head? Where do they find them? Here he is espousing more bs he knows nothing about. nor his comrade in arms. Rosenburg says Comey spot-on

I don't think anybody knew anything about this guy until he started spouting off on marijuana.

Here's all about Rosenberg.

It does say

Unlike his predecessor, as leader of the DEA, Rosenberg is expected to focus more on heroin and harder drugs and less on enforcement of marijuana laws. He is also expected to be in charge of the DEA for the remainder of President Obama’s term.

However, perhaps this little tidbit is related to why he has come out so harshly against cannabis.

Rosenberg and his wife, Mary, have two children. He loves baseball and has often served as his son’s Little League coach.

In the fact check article they state that some users experience "cannabis induced psychosis" that disappears after the effects of the drug wear off.

How about the "cannabis induced psychosis" that is brought on by the irrational fear of cannabis? This malady currently affects most government leaders.

What these people don't understand, and which is being born out in statistics from legalized states, is that when cannabis is legalized most people still don't care to partake in the consumption of cannabis. The people who use cannabis in legalized states are the same people who used it prior to legalization. All that is happening is that users are no longer being subjected to punitive laws designed to ruin lives and that society is not being adversely impacted by discontinuing the harassment of people who are otherwise law abiding citizens.

Here he is last month in an interview where he claims cannabis is dangerous!  That it should remain as schedule 1. Then a little shuffle on the alcohol prohibition. He states he doesnt drink and that he has no desire to impose this choice on anyone else and further that the country already tried prohibition and that the peeps didn't like it. But we shouldn't change it now? wtf

Then on again about the heroin, bla bla ...all drugs are drugs and ...

Petitioning President Obama: Fire DEA Head for Calling Medical Marijuana a "Joke"

Chuck Rosenberg, acting head of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), just made highly offensive comments calling medical marijuana a "joke."

While it's nothing new for drug war bureaucrats to oppose sensible marijuana policies, Rosenberg's comments go way too far.

Medical marijuana is not a "joke" to the millions of seriously ill patients in a growing number of states who use it legally in accordance with doctors' recommendations.

It is not a "joke" to the growing number of prominent medical organizations -- American Nurses Association, American College of Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, for example -- who know that cannabis has real and proven medical benefits.

And it's not a "joke" to the clear majority of U.S voters who support passing laws to protect medical marijuana patients from harassment by police and the DEA.

President Obama should fire Chuck Rosenberg and appoint a new DEA administrator who will respect science, medicine, patients and voters.

"FBI director James Comey conceded on Monday that he had little evidence to support his theory that a recent increase in crime was caused by heightened scrutiny of the police, as the White House appeared to distance itself from his remarks."

Though they have been around for a long time, ostensibly we take them for granted, they have been a part of the oppression most of us have known throughout our lives. The oppression of which I speak is  the 'drug war'.

Are they really necessary? Yes there is a place with no cops...

Mo J Comey...
