Michigan Drivers License

I full time in our Motor home and live in Michigan 6 months a year. I own property in Florida but not in Mi. I have a MI drivers license but want to change it to a Fl DL. Can I keep my MM card and would I be able to renew it. My doc is in MI and I will keep him. Anybody have any experience with this?

heres what it says on the application form:

 

Copy of Valid Photo ID (Michigan Driver’s license, Michigan ID card, or other acceptable form of ID)

 The copy of the photo ID must be clear and legible.

 If you submit a copy of a photo ID that is not a Michigan driver’s license or Michigan ID card, you must also submit a copy of your Michigan voter’s registration card as proof of residency.

 

what this means is you CAN use a florida drivers license or maybe a passport.

BUT you have to be registered to vote in michigan to claim residency.

also its probably not wise to have your medicine out of michigan borders. getting caught in any state south of michigan is not fun.

Thanks for the info. I will call them tomorrow. As for traviling with my medicine it very frustrating. I am out of state for 6 months a year. I really depend on my meds and am just not willing to go back to the days of taking so much opiates I do take morphine and Vicodin. I take about half of what I used to. I feel I'm at a good balance right now. If I get cought I know I will go to jail. I carry about two oz plus a good supply of medabiles. I will take my chances and hope at some point this great country we live in will pull their collective head out of their donkey and pass legislation to protect me from becoming a criminal

Keep the MI drivers license and you won't have any problems. Question why LARA will accept a voter registration card as proof, lots of people do not have the cards. Only used to let you know what precinct, district you are registered in. They don't even accept on election day for voting.
